Credits to Dawnstar. [Lilac] (#51049) for helping me think of this

I know that I've had this problem recently, and I'm like 100% positive other people had too.

Basically, I was harassed, threatened, and called slurs. And while I did report it (Of course!) It took a day before it was even claimed, leaving me feeling really unsafe.

This user was also reported by a few people who chose to defend me, but I didn't feel like the situation had been dealt with. (Though it has since I originally posted this, so don't worry!)

So my idea is this:

There should be certain words in the modbox that would trigger Mods to come look at them. The words would be stuff like:

"Kill"
"Threaten"
"Harassment"
Etc.

Janxxy (#61852) suggested that there be a subgroup in the Modbox where you'd report these types of things, so that smaller issues like minor ToS breaking and stuff don't get pushed back.

Gnarlandis (#66351) suggested that, rather than have to report a whole thread, you should be able to report a single post.

"I'm not sure if someone said this already, but mods should also add derogative slurs to the list, such as homophobic slurs/racist slurs/ableist slurs. I know that Lioden strives for a safe community where everyone, regardless of identity, is equal, and I believe that adding oppressive/discriminative slurs to the blacklist would help. :D" - Halt (#79087)

EDIT; Thank you everyone for the 200 supports! I can't believe how fast the supports added up!

This suggestion has 421 supports and 24 NO supports.

I don't think so. Like, they have a list, I'm sure. But I know in my situation that I had made a report about a specific user who'd been harassing me on and off for a few months. And I'd made previous reports and I didn't feel like anything happened.

But with this more recent harassment, the user went from "Eva stop being such a fucking bitch" to "Eva I'm going to track you down and kill you if it's the last thing I do"

And I know that the user can't really do that, and I live in a very heavy-security house, but it was even a day before my report, where someone had been harassing me (And those who defended me) and had threatened to kill me, was even claimed. And another day or two before the issue was actually dealt with.

I was worried that any new message I received, any new post on my topics would be from that person, saying more harassment on and turning my otherwise completely friendly discussions into toxic areas for anyone who tried to help. I felt incredibly unsafe, on this website that's known for being super kind and welcoming and friendly.
--

I don't really understand the fake reports thing. I mean, mods don't get reports about harassment and be like "Kk I guess we'll block them" without fact checking, looking through posts, and asking the person who made the report for evidence. Basically, if you can't easily prove (With screenshots, multiple reports, people vouching for you) that the person said or did anything to you, the mods won't do anything to fix it because they can't prove it happened.

So in order to make a fake report, someone would need to have a lot of people willing to make fake reports, and do a bunch of stuff that no one would do who actually like this site and isn't an asshole.

--

Sorry if any of this came of as rude or hostile, I don't mean it that way at all, I'm just still upset about the situation I was put in and I'm very passionate about this idea

*cough cough* Spikes (A.k.a spiked collars and wristbands, I kept thinking they meant the spikes on the items, not the items themselves xD)

*cough cough* Phantoms...

*cough cough* 9 year olds run amock there....

*cough cough* Jam.

*cough cough* Animals.

Think I gave enough hints there on that.... game.

Anyways, I think the person has been dealt with. The chat ban is expired but they're still suspended. Yay! I hoep this gets implemented though.

I actually have a simallar idea, certain words are banned on the site that could trigger people like things that cause anxiety or something with PTSD.

No, again, not site words. I don't want to start censoring this site, since it would make RPing and just general talking more difficult.

It would only work with Modbox reports

Thank you for your support! I'm just glad it happened to me, and not someone that it could have really hurt! I don't think this type of harassment happens often!

Support, but there should be... Less vague terms? Cos people are going to talk about the Murder Stone come August and sporadically after, and we don't need the mods having to check every time someone mentions how much they miss the murder stone! XD

I like the idea, but how about "Trigger Phrases" instead? Because, as Nylocke said, some Modbox messages could be about the Murder Stone not working properly after it is unlocked in August.
For example:
"murder me"
or
"threatened to"

I could change it to "Kill" Since there's no real reason to being saying "Kill" unless someone is threatening to kill you

Why would people do it for no reason? And even if people did, Mods require evidence (Screenshots, etc.) and without evidence the Mods aren't going to do anything, so reporting using the trigger words without reason would A) Do nothing except be annoying and B) Waste the Mods' time.

Plus the Mods would be really angry and probably punish whoever wasted their time.

Yes, thank you Simba! There's no point to it because even now, Mods can't/won't do anything without actual proof.

No problem! And yeah, if I were a mod, and someone asked me to ban someone without any proof said person did anything wrong, I'd ban that person instead of the one they're reporting. Not sure if the mods would do the same. (But of course, I'm not a mod so I don't know for sure)

As good an idea as this is, I see a few potential issues, such as causing flooding of the modboxes, and with the small amount of mods we have already that might be a problem.

What about goofy lion names or role-playing and lion stories? Perhaps there could be a little dismissable pop-up that shows up once a user sends or posts something listed in the "trigger list". It could say something along the lines of

"Please make sure you're being nice! We understand that people can be irritating or rude at times, but please keep in mind that misunderstandings happen, and some users may not mean to be or seem rude. If you have any issues with a user, the modbox may be a good place to go, or an admin [ link to contact staff page ] if you're having an issue with a moderator. Click here to learn more about reporting bullying or harassment on Lioden. We will keep your issue private and have been trained to resolve situations, so we'll do our best to help! We expect all of our users to treat each other with respect. "

I think this notice would be helpful if shown site-wide anywhere communication is possible.

If a user continues using "trigger words" or they are reported these instances could be automatically reported to the modbox for revision, with any relevant user-created reports linked to the auto-reports. I think it would be best if this was done automatically and immediately after posting. Once those reports are sent, the ability to disable message deletion and/or post deletion or editing would probably help preserve evidence. [ I actually don't know if that works or something like that has already been implemented as I'm not a mod or such, though. ] EDIT: I read a few posts above and saw evidence mentioned. Once a report is made perhaps any users in question should be unable to delete messages, edit, and flag posts for deletion? There are potential issues such as full inboxes and malicious reports, but I do think that would be helpful in general. Users would have to enter the ID of any users involved or possibly involved. Maybe post edits would still require previous versions of the post to be shown instead, though I think that would be quite

Edit: Trying to clean this post up. I read a few previous posts and would like to address ~Simba the Fluffy Lion~ (#27778) in particular, regarding their latest post. Personally, I think it would be unfair to do that kind of thing. For example: two friends get in a fight and one of them reports a previous message between them in spite; a message in which both users were joking around with each other. Out of context, such a message might seem very nasty and could result in a ban for what was supposed to be just a bit of fun! You can't really tell how a friendship works and it can be really hard to be "fair" sometimes.

I'm not sure if what I mentioned would raise privacy issues or other legal issues though, so I suppose its up to the admins/mods to decide after all, unless users were warned that they would be tracked if they used "trigger words?" I don't think the list should be publicized, though, as people can find loopholes and words not listed.

For example, off-site text that isn't converted to unreadable characters upon posting probably can't be read by Lioden, and would likely pass detection.

Also, a I think a reminder to be nice to others and try not to cause conflicts on the forums and inbox pages would be real cool!

I hope you weren't too shaken up by the incident, Evagoblin. Its quite easy to forget how nasty people can be sometimes.
