Diamond stars glimmered in the inky sky, each far-away gemstone looking as if it had been deliberately placed by the Ancients. A faint streak of silver pierced right through an arrangement in the approximate shape of a bear. A half-smile played on Kerrin's lips as he made out the shape, sending a silent prayer up to Bruno in hopes that this meeting would go well. He was too busy with the alpha's pregnancy, the disappearance of his sister and daughter, and his own conscious to visit the young, beautiful she-wolf. But now, finding his duties scarce in the middle of the night, he opted to finally take the short journey to the female's den. He picked up his pace as the cave opening came into sight, flat rocks piled on one another to create an entrance to a crystal masterpiece that lay below the surface. Faint moonlight spilled into the den, just enough light to make the opalescent jewels glitter and gleam as the male let out a quiet bark that resonated in the expanse of the cave.

//Does my nose betray me? Has he returned?// her eyes glanced to the sleeping pup curled up on her pelt nearby as her hackles rose suddenly. His bark sure to wake the sleeping beauty. Her nose crinkled up as she trotted over the pelts and down the crystals before inching towards the entrance with a half hearted growl. Her fur fully raised as she prowled forwards, her face stoic but her eyes betrayed her. Hope, sadness, heart break and a tiny speck of loneliness sparkled within their depths. She felt a lone whine build up in her throat but slammed it down. "Now you decide to come?" She was sure his nose was messed up or he forgot his daughter as her scent was surely some places around the den. Though they recently hunted and splashed in the pools outside, her nose caught the slight whisp of Izusas scent. "Where have you been /Kerrin/." Making a point to use his name instead of 'handsome'.

"Coquin," Kerrin said, relief and sadness outlining his voice, "I am so sorry. The alpha had cubs and... my sister and daughter left. My baby girl was only seven months old. But I don't think I've told you I have cubs, have I? I do, I'll explain." For the first time in his recent memory, the male crouched in an awkward submissive position, his tail stiffly pointing toward the ground. Everything told him not to, that this was a stance a Beta should never assume. But ranks didn't matter to loners. A slightly familiar smell dirfted from inside the cave, but he didn't recognize it. Unknown to him, his daughter's scent had been infiltrated by Coquin's in the time she had spent with the loner.

Her ears twitched in annoyance at the male, keeping back the surprised look as the male spoke about his Cubs and crouched before her. She snorted lowly, though said nothing. At a loss for words, /he has Cubs and said nothing to me?!/ A calm rage snapped over her face. Sure she had only talked to him few times before but now she felt that familiar spark of her nearly dead heart revive itself in the males presence. Her form bringing her to stand and adopt a slightly dominant stance as she slunk in circles around the male, her head low. Calculating, not yet aggressive, the male before her as she roamed circles around him. Sure she'd known the pup in her den was the males but it stung to know he said nothing of them, she seen the she as her own now. Having cared for her the past month or so. Her muscles rippled and tensed as a slight scuffling in the den caught her attention and she went into a near loner mode. Her body slinging forwards to once again rest in the entrance, tail raised high as she glared inside to see if the pup slunk from the depths. Seeing nothing she cast a calculating glance at the male over her shoulder. Gauging his reaction, she'd smelt Izusas scent flowing from the cave though Kerrin seemed to not notice. She snorted and sat back in her original place, "what was her name?" Her voice was small, uncharacteristicly of her usual bold self.

"Izusa," Kerrin stated, swallowing the lump hat had formed in his throat, "Silvery white. Odd teal eyes like no others. One black paw, I believe it was her front left one. She has a brother and sister who loved her, Storm and Wintergreen. You hear those depressed laments sometimes? Coming from the border? That's Wintergreen. She won't even talk to me anymore since Izzie left." He had never mentioned the to the she-wolf that he had cubs, it had never come up and he feared she would reject him once he mentioned them. The moonlight played on the she-wolf's lavender fur and shone on the liquid amber of her eyes. Carefully, he watched her as the she-wolf went slinking around him in a wide circle, her stance dominant.

She felt like she was intruding but pushes the thoughts away, "why'd she leave? She seems to have a uh.. great family..." Her lavender ears were snapped back in embarrassment and slight sadness. She had already heard the story from the she, but wanted to hear Kerrin say it.. Then she might forgive the male. His absence and hanging around those others still hung heavy but she couldn't just ignore how she felt could she? Coquin kept absolutely still as she looked him dead in the eyes ever so slowly gaining her catlike gracefulness again. -short-

"It's... hard to explain," Kerrin croaked, finally laying down in the cool grass and drawing a shaky breath, "But I'll do the best I can." He fidgeted slightly, and his eyes shone with tears, "She was born sick, we didn't think she would survive the winter. But she did. She did, but she always believed she was still weak, even though she was strong, stronger than you or I could ever be at that age. She always dreamed about leaving, even when she was only three months old. One time, she escaped the nursery and was nearly killed by a bear. A giant thing. It took six wolves to chase it. I was incredibly strict with her since then--I should have more relaxed, maybe then she wouldn't have left me!" He closed his eyes and stood suddenly and began pacing in tight, stressed circles. "She'd always complain about males," he growled, more in devestation than in anger, "Do you have any idea how horrible it is to hear your only biological daughter say that when you're a single father who's already taken enough slashes to the heart? I wanted so badly to satisfy her, make her care! I wanted to one day wake up female just so she would give me a look that wasn't full of hate. She threateaned to poison every male in the pack, including me and her own damn brother! My sister convinced her to leave. Gave that final push then left herself. She was 7 months old, Coq, Izusa's probably dead. My baby girl's dead."

She felt the growls bubbling in her chest long before the male finished. They had hurt her precious Izzie. The pup she practically raised and trained since she was only 7months. Though at seeing Kerrins broken form trembling in front of her she snapped her teeth together, "Beta! Get yourself together. How can you think so lowly of your own daughter like that? I've been on my own since I could eat solid food pretty much. Mom was never around and daddy dearest left for some other Bitch." She snarled, "just because she was once weak doesn't mean you have to keep treating her as so! If you had her back what would you do differently huh? Keep her under paw till she finally snapped and left you so wounded you'd never think to do another thing without her?" She snorted lowly. All signs of aggression and dominance melting from her body in one large shuddering breath. Her entire being slouched, voice merely a whisper on the wind, "I know exactly how the pup felt, do you know how bad that hurts Kerrin? How horrible it feels to be treated like scat between your toes? She may have been weak but she's Grown. She'll be stronger then you someday." She stilled and finally let her legs slide to the ground as she curled up into herself.

"We're you even listening," Kerrin snarled as he finished one last circle, "I love my daughter! I was the only one who thought highly of her. No one thought she was going to survive her first winter except me." His tail began to raise again and he laughed coldly, "When I was young, I may have been in a pack, but my mother... My mother was the omega, lowest of the low. And I, the omega's son. You may have been left alone, but I was the chew toy. The one everyone's frustrations were taken out on when my mother couldn't be found. My father? Some lowlife packmember who gave me nothing but some half-brothers and sisters, only two of which decided to stay in the pack. When I did anything bad, that's the only time he'd act like a father. A violent one. I left when I was one. Came back some time after I was two. I was reluctantly welcomed back. 'The omega's son came back. We finally have a chew toy again.' That's what some said. I returned to find out that my mother had died; one of the more major of her injuries had become infected and wasn't healed in time. She was left for buzzard food in a shallow grave. The only reason I became Zeta was because I beat my father's ass. I usurped him." He was breathing hard now, his muscled tensed and stressed as he took a stiff step towards the lavender she-wolf, "You've never had cubs, have you? You have no clue what it's like to be responsible for two wolves with your own blood and one you nursed back to health, and have their mother, a she-wolf that you loved with all of your heart, flee. Run from her responsibilities as a mother when her children have barely spent three moons out of her body. You have no clue what it's like to be rejected by your own daughter who you've taken care of since before her life began and have her running off with encouragement from your own sister. A sister you haven't seen for years and suddenly came back without remembering who you even were? My sister abandoned her son, my nephew, when she fled."
