Eh. What can I say, I like humans. Poachers? I dunno, going out and fighting lions sounds pretty awesome. Even when I battle them myself, (The poachers, not lions, though that would be cool) I imagine an awesome battle of wits and strength. The lion that stalked us for two hours finally came out, roaring in anger. I brought up my gun; I was trained for this. I needed to provide for a family back home, a wife and a baby. No damn lion was gonna get me and my friends. I shot three times, hearing the guns of my friends' shoot as well. However, our old and battered rifles were known for being a little too cockeyed. At first, I thought the animal would turn back. he couldn't fight so many guns, he was already hurt. Then I heard the roar of the lion's pride. Damn, we were... I couldn't think it. "Juan! Keep working on the truck, I don't wanna die!" I screamed to the African, who was busy messing with the wires in the driver's seat. "I-I'm trying, just give me a second!" He replied. I could hear the panic in his voice. But I knew it was too late. The entire pride was upon us now. They came running, the pounding of their paws shaking the ground. God, I didn't wanna die. It was a blur. I felt myself being thrown, then crushed, then lifted for only a moment before I felt something on my neck. I remembered the night before, my crew talking about their families back home over black coffee, surrounding a small fire. I remembered my little baby girl, seeing her scream and holler with her little friends as they played in the mud. I remembered my wife's face; her beautiful face. I remembered my father, mother, brother. I remembered seeing my dog, Rudd, lying in my lap as he slowly passed away. At least I can see my dog again, after all these years. But who cares? Poaching cannot be fully remedied without lifting the population that is employed by shitty rich scumbags out of poverty and corruption. Community building, education, and outside assistance is what needs to be provided along with animal protection. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

The only reason I feel bad id because they can't take one second and think what they do on live animals... If they had that mentality I feel that they would kill humanly and you can... Just cuz you don't shoot doesn't mean you can't kill an animal fast with a quick jab of a spear into the eye of the animal... I feel they lose they're humanity as if they can do something like that its sickening... I am all for gutting, skinning, and eating animals but the ones who are brutally abused by this should not have to deal with these evil people... 0 players like this post! Like? |

Reminder that poaching is just "illegally killing an animal." Had a friend of mine end up in trouble for this because he was using native hunting techniques and didn't have the papers on him to prove he was native american. Had to go to court and everything. Come to think of it, I know many a "poacher" who kill deer out of season because they are severely overpopulated in our state. We spend hundreds of thousands trying to control their population, and those folks that kill and eat deer out of season are criminals. 0 players like this post! To equate all poachers with the potential for the kind of cruelty you see in this event is just wrong, and to suggest poachers cannot be sympathized with or treated with proper human respect is also wrong. Whatever anyone else in the thread says, human lives are and will always be more precious then animal lives. Unnecessary cruelty to animals is awful, of course, but not all poachers treat animals like that. Poachers are people too. Treat them like people. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think a little piece of me just died knowing that people actually sympathize with poachers. I'm not sure if its because of the OP seemingly confusing people who hunt (or hunt illegally) with actual poaching or what but Christ above. Actual POACHERS who are hacking the faces off of animals, skinning them alive, injuring them and ruining the ecosystems they poach from warrant absolutely ZERO sympathy from anyone. Save your pity for someone who deserves it. There are plenty of people who get killed protecting animals from poachers, BY POACHERS. As far as I'm concerned any POACHER who's killed by an animal they are hunting or the people paid to protect them is getting what they asked for and certainly what they deserve from life. You can't be anything but psychotic to hack the face or peel the skin off of a live animal and leave it to bleed out, and if I had it my way poachers would be drawn and quartered in the streets. If they're doing that to the animals, what regard do you think they have FOR HUMANS?! I know this is years old but I don't care. I had to respond to the lunacy on sight.
