 This thread is part of the Ilanga’s Adoptions clan, although anyone can adopt cubs here. Please check it out, we’d love to have some new members! You are still welcome to request cubs, but keep an eye out for future changes! Welcome! This is one of Lioden’s longest-existing cub adoption threads, created in October 2018. It has since expanded into multiple shelters and a clan. It’s named after the owner’s first broodmother, Ilanga. All of the cubs here are free for the taking, as long as they are marked as “Adoptable”. All you have to do is write a quick roleplay, even if it’s just a couple sentences long. Once you’ve read the rules, you can speak to one of the broodmothers at the adoption center and let them know which cub(s) you would like! Rules -Please DO NOT kill/tree/sell a cub you get from us! They are looking for permanent homes. -You can adopt as many cubs as you like! Just make sure that you can actually care for all of them. -To make things easier for us, please specify the name of the shelter or broodmother you are adopting from in your roleplay. -You don’t need to include a link to the cub, just their name. -We generally have a first-come, first-serve policy, but if someone puts more effort into their roleplay or message, we might choose them instead. -Please do not argue with the decision of a shelter owner. However, if you have a problem (such as a cub not arriving, or receiving the wrong cub), don’t be afraid to reach out to us! -If you break the rules, we may prevent you from adopting a cub here in the future. -We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Born during the poaching season, Vikela lost many of her family and friends to vicious attacks when she was just a cub. She witnessed firsthand the deaths of countless cubs, and made it her mission to protect as many as she could in the future. She trained as a warrior alongside the pride’s other guards before becoming a broodmother, and as a result, she can seem quite tough and intimidating at first sight, especially to outsiders, who she distrusts. However, despite being a bit overprotective at times, she is popular among her pride and a hero to the cubs she raises. Once you’ve gained her trust, she will be loyal until her last breath.
Despite being an elderly lioness, blind in one eye and beginning to lose her hearing, Khatiba is as sharp as ever. She may not be as fast as she used to be, but she keeps a watchful eye on the playing cubs from her resting spot. When they grow tired of running and wrestling, they gather around her to hear one of her stories. She loves to tell the cubs about legends passed down through the generations, of vicious battles and ancient gods. She is gentle and kind, balancing out Vikela’s fiery energy. You may have met her daughter Kuhle at the clan’s stockpile.
Amina is a very trustworthy lioness. She would die before she saw any of the cubs she protected be harmed. Her goal in life is to find a good home for each and every cub she can. She is confident, kind, and most important to her, gentle. If any cub gets hurt in her presence she will be sure to rush to it and care for it to the best of her ability. Though she may get suspicious of some lions, she does her best to trust every lion and lioness she comes across.

Baekhyun entered the den, her ears twitching as the familiar milky scent of cubs wafted towards her, lifted by the wind. The queen blinked and turned to the fiery lioness she had grown accustomed to from the edge of her vision, and for once the female wasn't so fierce. At first, Baekhyun stiffened. It had been a long time since she came. She trotted gently towards the now old Vikela, dipping her head in acknowledgement. It seemed as though she mellowed, as her actions weren't as cold as they used to be. "I'd like Storm." She said flatly, then cocked her head to the side to regard Vikela. "How... How have you been?" She found herself saying, and a pang of sadness hit her once she realized the line of broodmothers she first met were slowly disappearing, just like the former king who had passed away months ago. 0 players like this post! Vikela smiled, a rare sight. “I’m doing well, old friend,” she said. “Or as well as one can, when they’re this old,” she added with a chuckle. Gesturing to the cub in question, she said, “You’re welcome to take her. She’s growing into a fine huntress, and I’ve known you long enough that I believe I can trust you to take care of her.” As Baekhyun and Storm turned to leave, Vikela’s mood seemed to shift, a wave of sadness washing over her. “To be honest, I... I am not sure how much longer I will last. I’ve lived through so much, defended my pride from countless threats, and it’s taken it’s toll. I don’t know if I’ll be here next time you return.” She sighed, then padded towards the lioness to nuzzle her. “In case we don’t meet again in this life... goodbye.” 0 players like this post! Like? |

(Oh yeah it did :( Vikela was a great character tho) Baekhyun paused in her tracks, looking shocked. It seemed that age had taken it's toll on the fiesty female, but she nudged back gently nontheless. "Thanks for everything. It was quite entertaining back in the day, our interactions I mean. A gentle cough came from the rather elder broodmother of the Golden River group, her eyes tired and her skin looking saggy about her body as she shook her head. She weakly smiled to Vikela and the rest, greeting Vikela with her usual kindness, eyes sparkling with joy despite her weak state. Her paws shook with each step she took as she looked around at all the new life. They say some lions come back as cubs, but she had no idea where the reaper would take her when her time came. She smiled to them all, having to clear her throat quite a bit as she looked over the cubs. Her mind seemed to escape her, forgetting what she was doing here. Her senile temperament was more than noticeable, it was down right ac-knowledgeable. She then shook her head, her jaws gaping as if she had come to a sudden realization. "Uhm..Might I have Glacier?" She said, her voice rough like gravel on pure skin, her form having to sit as standing was now a chore due to her hefty silk fur coat. (DID I HEAR SOMEONE SAY FEELS-) 0 players like this post! Vikela nodded, trying to keep her emotions under control after her interaction with her former rival. “Yes, you can have her. She’s a sweet cub,” she said, giving Glacier a quick lick on the head. She was surprised that the ancient lioness had traveled so far for a cub. Vikela had only spent the day walking around the den, and she was already in need of another nap. (honestly idek, im feeling in one of those 'im gonna explode' moods) With her weak smile turned down at the cub, who looked incredibly confused and baffled to the female, she greeted them with the same kindness she always did. Even when she was a fiesty adolescent, she always dreamed of a job like this. Perhaps it was her job alone that was causing her to look so old, the stress of rearing cubs for the pride could've been enough to break her body. Though it certainly wasn't alone, the three other females were trying their best to help her. Sometimes she just didn't want help. Sometimes she didn't know when she really did. While she was still kind, you could ask anyone around that she'd been more aggressive in recent days. Her mind was failing her, and soon, the rest of her body would to. However there was no need to fear that for now, as the shaky jointed female walked along the newly lived cub. She had a pain in her chest of when she was once that active, that excited about the world. But now everything seemed so much more dull, so much more boring. She felt like she'd seen everything, and everything was beginning to grow more of a chore than an activity. As she left, she didn't realize she forgot to say one crucial thing. One thing that she might not be able to say later on, one she might not be able to remember to even say. She'd forgotten to say goodbye. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(oh no i want more) With her companion resting her days away at home, a large female with wine stained fur began to make her way up to the pride. Her fur smelt like the pure essence of love, her coat luxuriously kept, and her overall form was completely fantastic. Such a switch from the elderly female here only a few moments ago. She looked around, her mouth curving to a smile as she could see all the tiny cubs playing with each other. Their paws swung as feet kicked like an angry rabbit's, tails puffed up at the end and little yowls breaking the soft wind of summer. The soft leaves blew against her coat as her gentle eyes laid upon the youngest of the females, her aroma intoxicating nearly. She let out a playful giggle as she spoke, "Hello there my dear," her gentle voice said with an eager and yet respectful tone behind it, "I'd love to take upon Bailey, Blight, and Brianna for my pride," she purred softly. 0 players like this post! Indlovu grinned. “That’s wonderful! Bailey and Blight are littermates, and Brianna was brought here at the same time as them, so I’m glad they’re all going together!” She gave each cub a lick on the head before they scampered out of the den. She watched the beautiful lioness walk away, completely oblivious to the chaos of play-fighting cubs around her. She thanked them with a sweet word, then like the cupid she might've been, her and the cubs left without a real trace. "Hello...?" A smooth, almost flawlessly smooth voice rang about in the bustling den. A medium-sized felis with red, purple, blue and gold colors coated like milk chocolate over his lean figure stepped in, midnight eyes scanning his new surroundings. Remembering his manners, the male turned a bit red and swerved to the side, searching for someone to talk to, and nearly slammed into a lioness with pale brown fur. "O-Oh! Sorry," He squeaked apologrtically, dipping his head to Amabala. He kept muttering more and more apologies, until a small growl interrupted the train of words. His small, nearly invisible ears twitched and a defiant adoloscent clambered awkwardly down his back and hopped to the floor before racing towards another mass of cubs. "H-Hey!" The felis cried out, trying to grab ahold of the female adoloscent before she could escape, but it was too late. The male breathed a sigh before once again turning to Amabala. "My name is Yixing, ma'am..." He whispered shyly, avoiding the gaze of the female. "I-I'm from B-Baekhyun's pride. S-She didn't want to go so I came instead... To deliver Iris," Yixing flicked a short tail in the direction of the escaped cub and bowed his head once more, staring at the rocky ground. 0 players like this post! Like? |

The silence was a deafening thing, such a lullaby that crept around every lion in the area. It even chilled some of the cubs, while the summer sun was out, it shouldn't have been so cold in such weather. Or should it have? Nevertheless, the grasses along the river border was beginning to rustle once more, which signified the arrival of one of the lions, perhaps looking for more cubs. Though what reared it's head was the face of the king himself, Karstaag. His chin had some wispy, slightly longer grey hairs as two, somehow smaller, primals flanked him. Though his age was slightly showing, it was clear he was well fed, on a sturdy body with thick paws that could crush the skull of any lion in his path. A chilling thought indeed.. Karstaag studied the cubs like a hawk to a succulent rat, his pupils dilating as he noticed one. Iris, the rather old adolescent of the area with her swirls of a tabby, delicate paws on a slightly thinner frame than most. A natural born hunter, the male would think. His very presence caused the guards to stiffen, watching his eyes as he was staring after Iris. The female was obviously a little nervous, knowing what he was here for. She had seen so many come and go, but she was so determined. Her determination was what was making the male's stiff expression slightly turn to a smirk, a tooth showing in his large jaws. Her paws were clumsy, but with corrections it could work. It always did, at least for the male. His chest slightly puffed out, the thick locks of mane rolling past his face as he looked at his older friend. Amabala..she'd been here since before he was king, and it made him pause for a moment. His breath almost caught in his throat; he could see her age and it affected him, though the reaction was not nearly as obvious as the twitchy guards beside him. He opened his mouth, a harsh, gravely and yet extremely low voice coming out, "That one, please," he rumbled, looking back to Iris, who lit up a little as she did a small 'paw dance'. The guards looked a bit surprised he'd even picked - though they were not questioning his decision as his dawn eyes sideshot them in a way that made them turn into statues. Not petrified, just, borderline pushing their loyalty. How strange, yet a small measure anyone could look over. Karstaag looked back to her, almost eager for an answer, if his expression would tell her that to, that would be rather kind of him. 0 players like this post! Like? |
