Ahren

Ahren panted as she kept close to her friend, the adrenaline flooding through her veins making her hyper alert. She watched as Aspen headed off to a drier location and the teen girl finally realized it was pouring rain. She shook her whole body, a primal instinct given to her by the lion DNA that swirled through her body from years of experimentation. Her soaked body began to shiver as she followed her friend to the drier area underneath the pines. They had to keep moving but perhaps a quick break would do them good, they had been travelling for miles after all. They must all be as miserable and cold as the lion tailed girl felt.

Kyle

With his whole body tense underneath the rain, he stalked through the forest, following a close distance behind the group of hybrids. He was alert, ready to pounce on anyone who dared touch the younger hybrids. They had los most of the guards that were following them a little while back but he still couldn't relax. He was constantly watching all their backs, herding them almost so that they stayed close together. Some strayed away at times but he quickly and silently brought them closer to the main group. It was dangerous, traveling in such a cluster as they were. From his training and time in the war, he knew they were easy targets. Hopefully the rain could provide them cover from any aerial assault. One could only hope.

Araia

Aria was the last in the trailing group, flying low she looked around at her surroundings. Being alone was a good time to think for her, and when she's running. From the stupid hybrid genes she has the urge to fly and run all the time. Which makes her very tired. She looked down at her leg, there was a deep cut from escaping and it was bleeding slowly now. For some reason she couldn't feel the pain. After all she had to deal with all the pain and torture in the labs, so maybe she was immune to pain through this? She quickly flew to the ground and sat down on a nearby rock, hopping she wouldn't lose sight of the group for a little while.

Aspen sensed someone behind her and turned. At the sight of her friend, she let out a very undignified squawk and nearly tackled the lioness. She hadn't thought that Ahren made it out.

Ahren

Saying that she was startled by her old friend's sudden love attack was a serious understatment. As she was nearly tackled by the winged hybrid, she tensed up and gave out a small squeak. Just as quickly as she tensed up, she relaxed and hugged Aspen back as she began to chuckle. "Did you seriously just notice me?" she smiled at Aspen and then spoke again as she felt the water on her clothes drag her down as she broke the hug and continued underneath the pines. "I've been following you ever since we escaped!" She was glad to see Aspen had made it out as it was just so chaotic.

Kyle

Kyle stopped as he saw one of the hybrids...Araia, he thought. She was resting and the group was leaving. He couldn't let her stop, they needed to keep moving. However, one glance ahead let him know that two of the older girls had hidden under some pine trees for shelter from the rain. He sighed and shook his head. How long had they been traveling? Perhaps a rest was needed? He looked back at the teenage hybrid sitting on a rock in the rain. He walked slowly to her, his training always being utilized. He wasn't trying to sneak up on her but it seemed he couldn't help it. He stopped right behind her and then spoke softly in a voice that seemed to worn and weary for his age. "You should seek shelter if you are going to rest."

Araia

With a jump, Araia quickly spun around to see who was talking to her. She soon realized that is was Kyle, and was surprised that he snuck up on her. "Oh, I wasn't sure how long we were going. I was only stopping for a short time. I was just looking at my leg and i was going to be off. By the way, where is the rest of the group" She said short and clean. She was still a little jump, and wasn't sure they were.

Aspen blinked, pulling back a bit so as not to knock Ahren onto the ground by accident. "Yes! I guess I was trying to make sure everyone was safe and overlooked specific people." The girl admitted, then let out an excited chirp unintentionally. Her hand flew up to cover her mouth as she started giggling.

Ahren

"Well, it's ok. " She smiled at her friends random chirping. "You are always so bubbly, even in a time like this. I truly don't know how you do it." Ahren joined in the giggling as her tail swished happily. she looked back at the small group and then back to Aspen. "why does it always have to rain?" She looked up at the sky through the branches of the tree. "Do you know where we are?"


Kyle

Kyle watched her freak out for a moment and then quickly speak. He watched her coolly for a moment before speaking softly. "Perhaps you should rest with the group under the trees." He then added, "What's wrong with your leg?" He didn't bother answering her question about where the group was as they were pretty close by. No point in wasting precious breath. He leaned over her a bit to look at her leg to see a gash that was bleeding. Another injury from the escape it would seem.

The girl shrugged. "It's easier to be bubbly than angry or sad all the time." In response to Ahren's questions, she glanced around. "No, I don't recognize any of it. But it's nicer than that lab, for sure. Even the rain." Aspen said, not really caring about the droplets. They were refreshing, and real, not some fake spray or mist.

Araia

She started to feel a little uncomfortable, but she went with it. "When we were escaping a scientist stabbed me in the leg supposedly. I cant feel the pain, however I did feel it going into my leg. It was strange for me, but I guessed it's because I'm use to pain now." She then reached down and touched the wound. It didn't hurt but now she had some of the sticky blood on her hands. It wasn't a problem for her but she just didn't like the feeling of it.

"I despise the rain", the teen girl replied angrily. She glared off into the distance seemingly angry with the world for letting loose the rain to fall upon her. She sighed as the nearly overwhelming urge to shake the rain off of her body returned. "I know there is no point in asking this, but why us? Why were we stuck with this life? What the heck are we supposed to do now?" She sat down on the damp ground, relishing in the pathetic shelter the pine trees gave.

Kyle

Kyle leaned back a bit once she explained what happened to her leg. An injury from the escape, just as he thought. "It should be fine so long as you don't mess with it like you are doing now. apply pressure to stop the bleeding and if you can, wrap it in something to keep the wound stable until I can take a look at it properly once the rain stops. Until then, stick close to the group please." That was probably the most he had spoken in a long time and it was sad to him how odd it was to hear his own voice. So much had changed since that first day of the 'semester' just a few years ago. Or was it more? He nodded his head to the teenager...young adult, he supposed, and then headed off to find his own shelter where he could watch the group from a distance. It wasn't long before he found it too.

Aspen gazed at her for a moment, then turned to see where the rest of the group was. "We'll find a place to shelter, and when the rain stops we can keep going. We'll be fine." She said, trying to reassure the lioness.

"I suppose." Ahren then changed the subject. "Honestly, what was our big plan anyways? To escape and then what? How do we find food and water? Real sgelter?" She furrowed her brow in thought as she tried to remember her life before the labs. It was all so fuzzy and jumbled up. "Maybe a city. Those places have too many people to keep real track of. We can hide our weird parts with jackets and scarves and hoodies. I think it's still cold enough to do that." Another thought hit her as her stomach growled. "And food. Fast food..."

Aspen gazed into the forest as her friend spoke, knowing Ahren had a point. "We'll find a river or lake and hunt, I guess. As for shelter, it'll come to building one of we don't find any caves or something." When the lioness started talking about going to the city, Aspen shook her head. "What about your tail? And Kyle's markings? Those can't be hidden with a scarf or coat. Not to mention half of the younger ones will panic. It's too dangerous, Ahren, you know that." She said gently.
