Adlaide jerked up from what she was doing as the alarms began to holler, for a moment her bright blue eyes widened and panic set in. Her heartbeat thundered wildly in her chest and ears, the pounding of blood nearly drowning out every sound which might have previously been deafening.
She leaned heavily against a wall as the ship tilted to one side. She moved towards the door knowing her brother would be in a frantic search trying to find her. Several people nearby were in a panic and Adlaide paused to direct them towards the escape pods. The soon rushed off, sobbing hysterically.
Only after pushing through the door and signalling several people towards the pods did she even begin to start looking for James. "This sure is a pretty picture." She huffed under her breath as she navigated the walkways. "First earth, now our ship? I can only imagine what the leaders are feeling like right about now. Probably failures, and I don't blame them." Her voice was deceivingly calm, and hearing it made her loosen up just a little bit. She took a deep breath then moved forwards.
"James! James!" She shouted, fighting the flow of people in search for her brother. She knew that if she did not find him, it very well could mean she would never see him ever again. The thought caused her brows to lower of her eyes and she moved faster.
She knew very well she stuck out of the crowd, which was very good. Her longish dark auburn colored hair, and dull colored clothing, most people wore red or blue, not the slate grey which she often wore. She raised up on tiptoe, she slight frame only reaching 5'5" even when on tiptoe. "James?!"

The ship beginning to tilt had James slamming into the wall. A grunt was given at that, but he forced himself up once the contraption righted itself. The alarms blaring in his ears ached, but he called for his sister. "Adlaide!!" he screamed louder. It was finally after a few moments that he heard her voice over the noise, head jerking towards the sound. She did stand out like a sore thumb.

James, on the other hand, wore a forest green shirt and black slacks. Uniforms were never his style. Hair was a bit messy, and a little longer than most folks. What was the striking feature about him were his stormy grey eyes and cheekbones. Some folks were extremely intimidated by the man, despite the fact he was only around five foot ten inches.

"Adlaide, where are you!" he shouted again above the noise. She was near, that much he knew, and with folks jostling about, the colors blurred together...

The steady flow of people were loud, too loud, though she did hear someone shouting. Was it James? She forced a breath out between her teeth, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the crowed from her sad point of view. She shook her head then pushed between a nervous looking couple. "Excuse me." She muttered, sliding through crowds like a fish through water.
James's voice tore through the straining groan of the ship and the sounds of the crowd. She jumped up waving her arms. "Over here James!" She shouted, raising her voice even higher than she had a few moments before. Spotting his stormy eyes she waved again. "Heyo, over here!" She pushed towards him, nearly falling twice as she moved against the crowd.
Reaching his side she turned and glanced around the somewhat organized chaos. Trying to think of something to say Adlaide's eyes searched the area wildly. Nothing came to mind, except for the urgent cry from within to escape the jolting and shouting. Her hands were shaking, she noticed this nearly at once when she glanced down, she clenched them into fists and raised up on tiptoe, glancing at her brother once more.

Upon finally seeing his sister, James just muscled his way through the crowd. The ship rocked once more, another explosion sounding from the engine room. He grunted a bit, bit the inside of his cheek. That was when he took his sister's hand, and led her off. They needed to get out of here, and soon. The ship was being torn apart from the outside force of space, more than likely. "We need to go, now!" the man shouted then.

While they were no longer children, he did look after his sister. Didn't matter if she was the oldest. He had to protect her, keep her safe. He'd promised their parents this before they'd marched off to war... They'd never come back, either. They'd practically raised themselves.

"Coming, coming!" Adlaide said quickly as her brother pulled her away. She raised one hand and covered her ear as the explosion ripped through the ship. "If only this thing could fall apart a little more quietly." She muttered to herself as they fought through the crowd. They had to make it to the pods, they had to escape out of here, they had to live through this.
She swallowed hard and continued after her brother, her mind couldn't help but loop back to the day when their parents had left. It felt somewhat like today, unreal, it was almost as though she weren't really living through the experience. She knew it was really happening, but it seemed as though something like this could never really happen. If she hadn't felt her brother's hand she might have thought it was just a dream of some sort. But this was no dream, it couldn't be, everything was just too real.
She closed her eyes and let her brother guide her through the crowd trying hard to summon a picture to mind that might chase away this entire nightmare. It didn't matter though, because whenever she opened her eyes there was the ship falling apart, the people moving swiftly in chaotic lines, and her brother leading her towards the pods.
A shiver ran through her and she pushed forwards soon not being dragged behind but darting right next to her brother. Her face was not set in stone, a expression partly upset, yet also hopeful. She'd grown tired of the ship, as cool as it was sometimes the same scenery had fast grown old. Maybe they would stumble upon another planet, one which the human race would be able to live on. Hope briefly soared only to crash as another horrible sound racked throughout the ship.

The groaning ship tilted and turned, spinning soon enough. It seemed they'd caught gravity of some planet. That threw James momentarily into someone else, he unable to apologize. Both he and whomever he'd slammed into had just moved along. There were only a few pods left, which meant that one of the bays had likely been destroyed. He didn't think much of it, and stuffed his sister inside of it before jumping in with her. They needed to get out, and get out fast. Chances were, the captain was doing his best to try and steer the ship as much as he could. That just wasn't happening. However, it did buy time for those who were able to acquire a pod.

James soon slammed his fist upon the ejection button, the pod shooting out of the ship like a bullet from a barrel of a gun. Not a moment to soon. As he glanced back towards the ship and the mayhem, he saw another explosion, this one tearing the ship in half. It caused him to pale, and the shock wave...? Well, it rocked the pod, and threw it off course....

Being thrust inside the pod wasn't very fun, but Adlaide landed fairly easily and then glanced back to make sure James had gotten aboard. However, by that time he was already slamming down on the ejection button. She turned to look at the ship which had been home for, what had felt like forever.
She took in a sharp breath, eyes widening as she watched the ship fall into two pieces. Her hands flew up to cover her mouth. She didn't even know if some of her friends had made it out alive, now there was little chance they might meet again, tears pricked her eyes, threatening to spill. She turned away looking down, her hands were shaking very badly now, and she did nothing to try and stop them from doing so.
Then the shock wave hit and Adlaide found her mouth agape with a shrill scream, the sound was foreign and half animal with it's wild fear. Now there was definitely no chance she would ever see any of them again, there was also a chance the pod would crash into some space debris. Though, she heard that you'd die near instantly if something like that were to happen, but that was anything but comforting.

James himself had found himself in such a state, only his scream had caught in his throat. THe man could only think to hold his sister's hand tightly. What if this was their last moments...? The pod was like a fireball, racing down upon the strange planet below. The crash itself was jarring, and without their buckles on, it was liable to break a bone or two. The pods were meant to crash, yes, but that didn't mean its occupants would always be safe. James himself felt something snap in his arm, all his thoughts on protecting his sister as much as he possibly could. A groan was given when all fell silent and still....

Were they alive...? Were they the only ones that'd made it...? They couldn't be, could they?

Adlaide was flung on her back against the pods floor, the sound of shattering glass and metal being crushed drowned out the sound of her warning shout as everything came to a very sudden stop. She lay still for what seemed like eternity, the breath had been knocked from her lungs and for a moment she wondered if she were even alive, if her brother was alive.
She finally was able to take in a full breath, coughing and gasping she attempted to sit up. It took a little while but she did eventually. Then she examined their surroundings, the glass was spread across the entire floor of the pod, a gentle very hot wind brushed her bloodied and bruised cheek. Twisted metal lay about the pod, jarred and removed from the place it belonged by the crash. The pod hadn't held up well.
Aldaide's eyes widened and she glanced around wildly for her brother, spotting him she swallowed hard. His arm was twisted in a angle that was completely unnatural. She took in a sharp breath, he was worse off than she was. She hurt badly from the impact, probably had a few bruised ribs, but his arm looked broken.
"J...Ja...James?" She whispered, her voice hoarse and low. "James... we're alive. We're alive." Something was to be said of the tone she used, something crossed between wonder and intense worry. Not fear exactly, just worry.

A groan was given at that, James wincing a bit as he dared move. That caused a sharp pain, a hiss. His arm was definitely broken. "Addy...?" It was her nickname since they'd been kids. He winced once more, forcing himself up. That twisted arm was clutched to his chest as much as possible, but it shook like he had some sort of disease... "Addy... I...where are we? It's warm here..." The ship was usually a cold place. To feel warmth upon his skin, even though it caused severe pain, was a welcome relief. THey weren't dead...!

Adlaide looked up. "I don't know where we are." She swallowed. "It's nice weather, I suppose. It's warm at least." She'd always been cold, no matter what she'd always been cold. Addy loved blankets on board the ship and often was found snuggled beneath a blanket with one of the many ancient books she had so loved to read.
"There's a First Aid kit somewhere in this mess. Is it broke?" She asked, though watching his face she already knew the answer. It was broken. She blinked and glanced around the pod nose curling slightly. Was something burning? She shook her head. "We should get out of here James, I'll grab the stuff we might need but we should get out of the pod. I sure don't want to be in here if any native animals come searching for an easy meal." She figured an hungry animal could get in easily, and since neither of them were in very good shape to fight she wanted out of there soon.

He gave a nod of agreement at that. "Yeah..." It was also an answer to her question, but yes, they did need to move on. Who knew where they were. The fact that they could breathe the air meant it was perfect here, otherwise chances were, they'd have been dead already. Perhaps it was a little lacking in oxygen, or maybe he'd bruised his ribs, too, but it was hard to breathe here.... Giving a shaky sigh, he winced. It felt like his entire body was bruised and aching, and his arm... "If that's the engine compartment, it may blow. We need to get out of here..." And swiftly.

Adlaide nodded. "Then let's get you out of here." She said quickly stooping to help him up. "There's a way out through the glass, the door looks crushed in. You'll have to be careful though." She added thoughtfully. Adlaide knew one of their only chances of getting out of this situation alive was to get that First Aid kit and the few other necessities which were hidden away on the pod. A few blankets had fallen from their compartments and she swiftly folded two up the last one she lay over the glass so they could get out easily over the glass.
Then she was torn, if James went first he could be hurt badly by whatever was out there, but if she went out first the chance was he wouldn't let her duck back in there for the kit. Taking a breath she looked around, noticing the hard feeling in her lungs she felt after every breath. Oh great, that meant they wouldn't be able to work as hard here, at least, not at first.
She looked up at the ceiling of the pod closing her eyes, trying to delve back in her memory to see where in the world she had noticed the First Aid kit. Her eyes flickered open and she searched around a tiny bit before finding it. "Let's get out of here. It's smelling hotter and hotter, and it sounds like it's going to blow."

"Alright..." It wasn't easy to crawl out through the opening. It was large enough to fit him at least, but that was on his hands and knees, and one arm was temporarily out of use. They'd need to find some way to bind it. A first aid kit was good for only so much, and broken bones normally wasn't one of them... They'd need something stiff, such as wood or metal rods. "C'mon out, Addy. It looks safe..."

Not that he'd be able to tell. The crash drove many of the animals away, and even killed a few in its wake. The crash site was massive, and its trail was at least a good mile or two in length. They'd hit the ground hard... It was time ot go though, lest they become something's food out here. He was in no shape to fight. At all. "Can you pass me the kit and grab a couple rods? We might be able to salvage them for a brace..." That was, if she had time to do so.

Adlaide grabbed a few unbent poles as she ducked out the window. She turned looked at the pod, snatched the last blanket then turned. "Well, the sky isn't a pretty blue, but the rest of this planet looks almost like earth." She said starting away from the pod towards a large clump of trees.
She paused and turned once more to gaze at the pod with a wrinkled nose. "Good riddance." She muttered then shook her head. "Where should we set up camp?" She asked, brows furrowing as she glanced around the seemingly endless expanse. It was kind of great to be somewhere new, but also somewhat frightening, especially when they had no clue where they were. Three poles tucked under her arm she noticed one was of a longer length, at first she thought it might be useless but didn't cast it away on a second thought.
"I wonder how things work here, you know, like fire, and everything else." She said eyes fixing on James. It was a strange question, but a very good one, especially since that could mean life or death in this strange place.
