Private RP between myself and 32475

Star Log
Date: April 3rd, 2537
Mission: To scout for new worlds
Number of Occupants: 100 Crew
Log Author: James Grant
Months ago, we launched into space on a scouting mission for a new world to plant Earth residents on. Our own planet is dying, and we need to find a location to transfer to. The goal is to locate a planet similar to our own world. So far, we've located nothing. There have been stars, planets and suns and moons, but nothing of suitable living. The mission has grown desperate, and I fear that my sister and I will never find a place to truly call home. Will we be lost out here in space forever, I wonder? Will we ever see home? Supplies, at this time, are in a good status, but how long will they last? The past several days, we've had many emergencies, especially in the engineering room. The Core has been failing for some time now, and the causes are currently unknown. To go back to Earth would be a death sentence for us all. We must find a place to land our ship... I just hope the captain knows what he's doing....

That was the last Star Log that James would get to put in. Just as he was finishing it, the alarms began to ring, and something exploded upon the ship. It was jarring, and had him falling out of his seat with a grunt. The man shook his head a bit, stood to his feet. His sister, he had to find his sister. Over the intercoms, one could hear the captain speaking.

"This is your Captain speaking. An evacuation order has been sent out. Calmly make your way to the pods, and abandon the ship. I repeat, an evacuation order has been sent out."

Paling a bit, James was quick to sprint down the hall to the Women's quarters. He was screaming, shouting, for his sister. Where was she...? Little did they know that this would be a new start for them....

(I'm drawing Adlaide right now, only in suspiciously medieval clothing.)
"James, if I had a book right now I swear I would hit you over the head with it. You need something concrete? These people live here. They kind of know the terrain and the creatures, so unless this is some sort of incredibly horrible hoax, I think I'm at least going to think they know more about their planet than I do. They also probably know more about their planet than you do. Remember what they said aboard the ship? They didn't know what was out here, they doubted there'd be life on any other planets. So unless were dead, they were wrong." If they were dead it felt suspiciously like living, except maybe it hurt a little more. She fell silent staring at the horse nearby which was staring into the dark with pricked ears and a earnest expression on it's face.
Maybe this was all just a dream, but then again this was one heck of a dream. A terribly realistic dream as well, with lots of pain on her part. It was like a dream in the fact it made hardly any sense, but then again her entire life could be nothing more than just some silly dream.

"I-" James was cut off before he could say much more. The elvish man had cut him off for a moment, drawing a blade in hand. It seemed even Mishani was on alert. Instead of speaking, she was giving hand signals to her scouts. Without the injured pair, their numbers totaled about ten. Together? There were twelve of them, so nothing should have come to close to alert the horses... Seemed that a couple of the folk, the kind man included, were meant to guard the injured siblings. Something was out there, alright... It wasn't good. At all.

"What's out there...?" James finally asked, keeping his voice low.

"Likely wolf-folk or the demons... Haven't seen any of the night-folk for ages. Rumor has it they're dead, but I'm highly doubtful of that one." What on earth were night-folk though...? James just frowned at that.

Adlaide's face drained of all color, she recognized the term night-folk from the book to which she was constantly referring. The doctor had written two whole chapters on the terrors inflicted by the night-folk. "I'd rather not meet any night-folk." Her words were more like a outward breath than anything, not really spoken at all. Her eyes had grown round and silvery, her heartbeat sounded like a drum in her own ears, her breaths grew constantly more jagged and halting.
When Adlaide had read the book by the famed "crazy" scientist she'd read it as a critic, only reading the book because it sounded interesting. Like the fairy tales she'd loved so much as a little kid. Now learning that these things weren't actually just some story spun for the likes of children, it made her heart feel stone cold within her chest.
How many other historic books had she read where innocent people had actually died, the thought made her sick to the stomach. She continued watching the horse, the unnerving calm of the beast not broken for a second. According the the book by Dr. Brown, the horses here had little fear of the night-folk and the other folk which the people of this planet feared so badly.

These horses were definitely a stockier breed...far more tough, and even brutal to a point. James, by this point, had pulled his sister into him. She didn't need to get hurt... His gaze shifted quickly to Mishani, watching her hands flying as orders were given. A few bows were drawn, the arrows lit, and fired into the darkness. The creatures nearby gave a sharp hiss, alright. Night-folk, it seemed, had found them.

Bone chilling howls were given though, just moments later. These were close by, as well... "Run!" Mishani finally barked, glaring at her elvish companion and the siblings. "Get on a horse and go! We'll catch up!" The man gave the pair no time to waste. He was oddly stronger than what he looked like, and he shoved the pair upon a horse before slapping its hind quarters. It gave a whinny, and then bolted. The beast knew where the castle was, and was automatically headed that way. He himself followed along on a different horse, and they were joined by two others. Night folk and wolf folk...? Were they working together? It was hard to tell at this point...

(It sounds fun, btw! Your drawing. x3 I might draw a bit myself.)

(O.O This scene would be epic to draw... but the dark colors would drive me crazy. xD)
She hardly knew what was happening before she was half flung onto the horse. Her eyes wide she was almost happy as the horse flung itself forwards. Adlaide threw a look over her shoulder but couldn't make out who else was coming after them. She faced frontwards her heart seeming to be stuck in the back of her throat. She only hoped the horse wouldn't stop for anything and keep going. Right now all she cared about was living for a little longer and making sure neither James or herself fell off the fast moving steed.
"James!?" She could hear herself shouting. "As much as I love being right, I really, really wish you were right in this instance." The pounding of hooves and the whistle of the wind nearly drowned out her words but she hoped James could hear them. For some reason the idea that James could hear her words made it seem like maybe this all were just a hoax and that nothing terrible would really happen if they were caught by the creatures.
The horse gave a sudden jolt, nearly stumbling over something in it's path causing Adlaide, who didn't have much of a grip in the beginning to slide from the horses back. She hit the ground before she knew that she had fallen and barely jumped to her feet before seeing four pupils burning in the night behind her.

(Lol! You could always add light if necessary?)

"Son of a-" James wasn't able to get much out when the horse did that, causing him to spill as much as his sister did. A groan was given, and he managed to sit himself up. That was when he noted the burning eyes as well, and he felt his heart stop in his chest a moment. "Give...me a raincheck later on that, sister..." He hardly ever heard her say she wished she was wrong.

At this point, it seemed their horse had bolted, but, due to whatever luck they had, the elvish man was soon before them, his horse stamping and snorting. "Get on!" he ordered Adlaide. Someone else was already helping James get onto their horse.

She didn't hesitate to fly onto the horses back, she didn't like the looks of those burning eyes behind them and was all too happy when they were on the move once more to the castle. She'd rather not wait for a raincheck but it'd have to do for now.
Adlaide closed her eyes tightly trying to tear the searing eyes from her memory. Now she really felt scared to death, her face was white as paper, her hands were shaking, and her eyes were large and round like some infant child feeling fear for the first time.
No matter what fate awaited them back at the castle she would be grateful when they finally arrived. The night was a terrifying place, even more so with terrible creatures out there. Lurking in wait for you to be off guard so they can attack. A shudder rolled down her spine, adding to the appearance of fear upon her features.

James would have comforted her, but he was just about ready to pass out... He'd landed on his broken arm, and that had not helped any, to be honest. He was just plainly exhausted, and this world was so new and draining... Who knew how long they'd be on the run, or if those other people would be alright. Mishani did not deserve whatever fate had been dealt to her this night. Chances were, though, she'd catch up to the others. The woman was highly resilient, knew what she was doing. Those burning eyes followed a good ways before it was clear that something had smacked into them, their cries of pain heard throughout the night as the horses ran on.

"Looks like you have a few guardians!" the elvish man shouted over the wind. "Never seen a wolf-folk take such interest in Outlanders before!"

Adlaide could care less what anyone was saying right then, she was partly curled with her eyes squeezed shut, her stomach felt more quest every time the horses feet touched the ground. Guardians? So what? What did that even mean? She didn't want to think about it right then.
Exhaustion made every movement terribly straining and painful, each breath she sucked into her lungs felt worse than the last. The accelerating pace at which they were moving made it hard to hear anything beyond the hiss of the wind, her heartbeat, and her ever quickening breathes.
Being tough before now was hard enough, being tough now, felt close to impossible. Adlaide had never had to face anything as hard as this before. The life on board the ship had been a fairly easy life, she'd been able to read to her hearts content and do whatever she'd liked for the most part. On Earth it hadn't been too hard either, and they'd left not long after her memories of Earth were recognized.

To say the least, they ran well into the rest of the night, and on into the morning light. The elvish man did not dare to stop, not until he heard the faint sound of a hunter's horn. His horse came to a stop, it breathing heavily. Unlike the horses from earth though, no foam was upon this creature. THey were bred for this. "Alright...we're safe until night comes. Let's get some rest, and tend to the man's broken arm. Miss? Might I help you to get down?" This would be a tough road...but the foothills were getting much closer to the mountains.

Adlaide jumped from the horse nearly quivering. She glanced at James and scooted closer to him, she was beginning to hate this adventurous planet. Perhaps, maybe not exactly hate, and maybe she might even grow to like it, but probably only when she learned how to handle a weapon properly. Being practically defenseless wasn't hardly any fun at all, she'd never really needed to know how to protect herself. Now it was becoming something she was fast wishing she knew, she'd read books of course, but that hardly counts against the instinct of a people who have long had to survive in a hostile world.
She took a breath, the hard air slowing the furious pounding of her heart. She really needed to get a grip on her fear, she needed to stay strong. If not for herself, for James. He had a broken arm, he could hardly care for himself let alone his frightful sister. Adlaide glanced towards the sky, silently promising James and herself that she would become a stronger person. One that didn't show such rapid changes from false courage and leadership, to a senseless and nearly animalistic fear.

Well, that was that then. A brow rose from the elvish man, but he soon slipped off his horse, watched and waited. Nothing was chasing them, thank goodness... At least not right now. He could only hope that the rest of his scouting party was alright. Until then, all he could do was tend to James, and make sure that he was well. Seemed his companion was already doing so, getting more than a few unfriendly words and curses along with it. Having fallen onto his arm had not helped him one bit. Nor did it aid his mood, in fact.

James was cold, pale, and shivering. This hadn't been his idea of a vacation, but he had to admit to his sister that she was, unfortunately, correct. It was still hard to believe, if not almost entirely impossible... But they'd been thrown from their horse by some giant, furry thing!

She glanced around, eyes flickering dully. The sky was bright once more with brilliant colors, the soft lilac colored clouds almost reminding her of cotton candy. The glowing red orb of a sun was swathed in rainbows, rain sprinkled in the far distance blurring the lines of the horizon. Bird like creatures dotted the sky, singing their soothing and gently crafted songs as though their lives depended on it. The sun baked ground smelled richly like golden grain in the sun, almost sweet in fact. A gentle wind weaved in and out from amongst the craggy lands in the distance, kindly brushing her hair from her face.
James' mood was the only thing that snapped her back into the unpleasantness of reality. "James, how are you doing?" Adlaide very nearly whispered in very subdued tones. Her face had grown taut as she looked at him. She hated to see him in such pain, it made her want to wince and turn away from him. If only then she would be able to turn back around and see him fully healed and smiling.
She eyes gently sparkled and she glanced back at the horizon. This place was beautiful, she would admit that, but it would be a long while before she would become comfortable with their situation.
