"I have been enjoying life!" Nate argues, a small laugh leaving his mouth, as he parked in the parkway of the cafe they were going to eat out. "I don't need a girl to make my life better. I love my life." And then he shrugged before getting out and opening the door for Kelsie. "I guess I just haven't found the one."

"Well you like Jessie, she likes you, that seems like a pretty good reason to ask her out." She said and walked towards the food building. Maybe the reason he hasn't done so yet was because he didn't know how...but for someone like him he should definitely know how to.

Nate rolls his eyes at Kelsie. She just didn't understand and no matter how much he wanted to tell her, he knew that he couldn't. He just couldn't take the chance that it would mess up everything that they already had. He got out of the truck before opening her door. "It's not that simple," he stated, shrugging.

"Indulge me then, why is it not that simple." She adjusted the strap of her purse and turned around to face Nate just as she walked into the restaurant. His expression was unnerving but she couldn't figure out exactly what it meant, it was something she didn't see on Nate very often.

"It just isn't," Nate tells her, putting a hand on the middle of her back, as they walked to the resturant, something he always did unconsciously. He opened the door for her before standing and looking at the female behind the front counter. "Table for two please," he asks, and she smiles before picking up two menus and telling them to follow her.

When Kelsie sat down at the table the hostess led them to, she looked at Nate and crossed her arms over the table, "It doesn't make any sense you know? It's like there's something blocking you from enjoying this part of life." She said completely unaware that something is actually her. Opening her menu she looked at the fish and chips, deciding to go with those tonight.

"Well maybe I want to make sure all the other parts of my life are in order first," Nate tells her, grinning, as he shook his head, knowing that Kelsie always wanted what was best for him. He looked over the menu, deciding that he wanted a burger and fries. When Rebecca, their waitress, came to serve them, her eyes stared at Nate but he pretended not to notice her. "I want a double bacon cheese burger with fries and a spire, and I know Kelsie here wants her usual of fish and chips." He winked at Kelsie.

Kelsie smiled and shook her head, Nate knew her all too well. "Thanks." She said to the waitress and handing her the menu, leaning forward when she left, "Nate she was totally checking you out and for all I know the other parts of your life are in great order, plus if you don't take that leap then you'll never know the joy of it." She said sighing at him.

Nate knew Kelsie. He knew her likes and dislikes, why she did the stuff she did, everything that had happened in her life. Nate knew because he liked her and had known her for years. But she didn't feel the same about her and why ruin a perfectly good thing? It's like the old saying. Why fix something that doesn't need to be fixed? He shrugs his shoulders, putting his menu down. "There's only one girl that I have my eyes on, and she isn't interested."

"What about...um, Jessie?" She said sipping the iced water that was put down by the waitress, "I thought you said you think she's interested?" Kelsie was confused now more than ever and wasn't sure if Nate was telling the truth or not...she had a feeling there was more to the story.

"She is," Nate answers, looking up at their waitress, as she put down their food before staring at his fries, popping one into his mouth. "And I like her, she's pretty cute and smart. But I already have my eye on someone else." Nate didn't say anything more when he got a phone call. It was from the lab. He answered, his eyes widened, as he received the news. He looked at Kelsie before taking his wallet out and laying twenties across the table. "We need to go," he states, standing up.

Kelsie stood up immediately at his abruptness and raised an eyebrow, "What happened?" Their other conversation was now forgotten as his face showed clear concern, whatever it was, it wasn't good. "Is it the lab?" She guessed as they walked out of the restaurant.

"Yeah, I need to drop you off at home. I need to get there asap." And he opened the door for her before closing it and getting in on his side. Nate closed the door behind him before starting the car and backing out of the driveway before driving towards Kelsie's house, not knowing what awaited him at the lab.

Kelsie had been waiting for news of anything from Nate for the past few hours not hearing anything until a phone call knocked her out of her trance. Answering it, her heart almost skipped a beat when she heard that Nate was injured and in the hospital. Quickly driving there she rushed in to see Nate's boss and a few co-workers that she knew he worked with, "What happened?"

"He was hit with titanium radioactive rays," Jessie, a coworker of his stated, looking over Nate. "Him along with several other people around the city and across the state. It got him really bad. He was extremely close because he had to try and save Maria." She was another worker at the lab, a good friend of Nate's. Jessie shook her head, smiling. "The big idiot. He did it though." Then Jessie realized that she didn't know the girl in front of her. She stood up. "Sorry, I'm Jessie," she introduced herself.
