Lioden has updated Fire Escape to remove some of the parallax scrolling (huzzah!) so I'm sure they'll do it for March's Poacher Chase also when the time comes!

So this is about the 'Poacher Chase' and it's sister 'Fire Escape'.
I don't think this was really a problem with the 'Fire Escape' version (but since it's not available right now I can't really compare) but with the current 'Poacher Chase' game I, and a couple of friends, are experiencing headaches, nausea, and dizziness after finishing the game regardless of how long we're able to play it.

I think this is happening because the obstacles you have to jump over aren't incredibly noticeable. They blend into the background too much making the player strain their eyes while they play to be able to see the objects. I think a way to fix this is to either make the faint glow around each object more noticeable in color and maybe even a bit larger. Or to change the brightness or overall color of the object so it's not so tan/brown on a tan/brown background.

I think the reason this wasn't such a problem in the 'Fire Escape' game since, if I remember correctly xD, the background in that one was overall black/red with the objects being the tan/brown with a more noticeable glow.

After playing it again with all the suggestions in mind I've realized it's not really the lack of noticeability in the obstacles but rather the parallax of the game. The multiple elements of the foreground and background that move at different speeds are causing some people to experience headaches/vertigo/dizziness/sickness/etc after the 1k mark. Though none of the effects so far are long lasting they're still not great!

A possible way to fix this could be just to have a static image for both the foreground and background, so the only thing moving in the game would be the lion and the obstacles it jumps over. This wouldn't affect gameplay as things will still speed up as you progress and the jumping over obstacles mechanic won't change at all.

Another suggestion would be instead of having all parallaxing stop, have less! Such as maybe JUST ONE foreground, the area the lion runs on, and background element instead of the current 2 elements of foreground, the ground the lion runs on, and 4 elements in the background all moving at different speeds at the same time (I don't think those numbers are accurate but you get the point XD)

I know not everyone is experiencing these side-effects so I'm not suggesting to change the entire game this way, but instead have an option to toggle the parallax on or off before you start the game! And maybe have it remember your settings so if you die and want to restart you don't have to choose it every time.

Let me know what you guys think about this game and the suggestion of the change! I'd love to hear from both supporters and nonsupporters! <3

This suggestion has 305 supports and 10 NO supports.

I've played this game when it first came out last year and never had a problem. However reptile round up and whack-a-snake do mess with my eyes and give me headaches. I hardly ever play them because of this but I don't think the games should be changes because I have a personal problem playing them.
Everyone's eyes work differently they can't make games like this work for everyone. No mater what they change someone will have problems playing.

The parallax is really causing a lot of eye strain for me. I enjoy the game, but it gives me headaches after about 3k when the elements start moving faster. I would absolutely love to be able to toggle the parallax scrolling.

I had to scroll down half way to even make this game playable beyond 4,000.. If a large amount of people (200+ against 9) find the game headache inducing then there is obviously an issue with the blur, not with the people playing.

@Jae, I don't think all 200 supporters get headaches, but are still willing to support for those who do.

Gotta support this. After about 8k in Fire Escape I have to let my eyes unfocus in order to keep playing (lol is that even healthy?). Personally I dont get headaches from it but like Katia said, I support this for those who do. Would be nice to have the foreground and background be static.

Update Looks like they added a toggle to reduce motion effects in Fire Escape (August's Version of Poacher Chase) So I'm sure they'll add it to Poacher Chase as well this year! /u\

i also think the main issue is that all the images are so crisp, it makes my eyes want to focus on the moving elements of the foreground and background and not the lion. a simple blur “out of focus” effect would solve it

Just want to say that this is still an issue with the Fire escape game. Have the reduced movement option toggled on and my head is still throbbing and my vision swimming after playing it. I don't know if there just needs to be a greater contrast between foreground and background or what but despite the added feature...this is still a problem

I've played it for the first time and i must say that was painful for my eyes D:
i wanted to focus on the moving obstacles but my eyes kept focusing on the lion itself because the obstacles get extra blurry when the game begins tog o faster (10k score and up)

Even with reduced movement, it still really hurts my eyes and I get nauseous from it still (which is a huge problem, as I couldn't even go back on the computer during most of August cause I was just so dizzy).

I feel like there should be more graphic options. I don't have a problem with the game but I'm well aware of the motion sickness others experience.

@TeaLeo

I'd also like to add that, while I don't get sick from playing it, I do experience something going wrong with my eyes. I have epilepsy and the feeling is similar to the feeling I get right before having a seizure. While I don't believe that I get seizures from it (The feeling itself comes from constantly flicking your eyes in one direction which is what you do while playing, kind of like when you get very drunk and the room starts spinning), it is HIGHLY disconcerting and upsetting. I think you should add this in your main post.

I can also see this being a trigger for some people with epilepsy, so I think that at the very least mods should put up a notification above the game saying that it may trigger some people.

It's still a problem now :(
I've been searching the threads because my eyes also start to kind of unfocus after a while and after I've hit something around 5k (I know, not that much) I felt sick and even 15min later I still feel like everything is moving
