A time where vampire myths are commonly believed, and suspicion of the undead is high.
You reside in the town of Rivercrest, which seems like just another town, but when night falls it becomes far more sinister.

You are a vampire, and now it's time you have to choose whether you'll be swayed by your immortal bloodlust and feast to your undead heart's content, either manipulating your way to the top, using your wits to avoid being caught, isolating from the mortals and only interacting when it's time to feed, or simply slaughtering all those who oppose you. Or, you could try your best to shun who you are, and feed as little as possible, or only on consenting humans. But without feeding, you'll soon begin to find your immortality dwindling.
But, it's not just human hunters you have to worry about, werewolves will stop at nothing to rip you to shreds, if you're not careful, the toxic rays of dawn could soon turn you to mere ashes.

Notes on Vampirism.
A vampire in this roleplay is practically undead, they have no heartbeat, no breathing, and are cold to the touch apart from after feeding on human blood. The longer a vampire goes without feeding, the more they begin to look like a corpse, and the colder they become. If they go too long without feeding, a vampire will enter a 'bloodstarved' rage, and attack anything living on sight. Animal blood can be drank, but it does not reverse the effects of starvation or the inevitable blood rage, merely holds back the cravings for a day or so. A fed vampire may look like your average human, however when intense emotions are shown, or when feeding, their irises will turn crimson and their pupils constrict into catlike slits, and of course their fangs will be visible.

All vampires are immortal in the aspect that they cannot die from illness or aging, however they can still be killed by sunlight, decapitation, total destruction of the head, removal of the heart, or destruction of the heart. Any other injuries will regenerate depending on how recently they fed, a starved vampire will struggle to heal even the smallest injuries, but a fully gorged vampire could regenerate entire limbs in an hour or so.

The abilities a vampire innately has is, enhanced reflexes, speed, strength, enhanced senses, and night vision.

To turn a human into a vampire, they need to be completely exsanguinated and then made to drink a vampire's blood, it's not a process without risks however, as it can fail and either the human will stay dead, or they will become a mindless ghoul that has to be put down.

Notes on Lycanthropy.
Werewolves can vary drastically, but your average werewolf in their 'beast' form is around 7 foot tall, and can come in many different colours, but grey is the most common. In their human form, a werewolf will be harder to identify than a vampire, however a few traits such as more 'wolf-like' mannerisms, more muscle mass than your average human, and for those with more than human senses, the smell of dog, can be identify a Lycanthrope.

"..My sister?" She echoed quietly, her vision somewhat distant still in contemplation. "Rose.." Her voice cracked as she continued to reminisce, her brow furrowed tightly as if it was painful to even try and recall. "Does she know what happened to me?"

He thought back to the night she was turned. "I'm not sure. You told her you left, I know that, but I'm not sure the specifics. Do you remember?" Slowly, he sat down on the beach, motioning for her to join him. They could train after this conversation - helping Anabel was more important right now.

"I.. Don't remember that at all.." She sat down beside you, her brow furrowing once again as she lost herself in thought once more, the soothing crashing of the waves against the sands a constant and comforting rhythm. Anabel's eyes then suddenly widened, shockingly fast her face turning to pure horror and grief as her body began to convulse into violent sobs.

"I went to go find her, but I couldn't remember where I lived. Then the hunger- I didn't recognise her, I-" She stopped, becoming too choked to even speak once again, but from what she said you could already paint a grim picture of what happened, and why she was in such a state.

Ambrose's eyes went wide with shock, and he withdrew his hand, unsure of what to do. He placed it back carefully and started rubbing circles in her back.

"It's... it's okay," he comforted, "You didn't know." His throat swelled with emotion and he struggled to speak rationally. How could me and Walter forget about that? he chided himself.

Anabel shook silently for a second, her crimson eyes glassy as she stared off into the distance. "I wish you left me to die!" She suddenly snapped out, a low growl rumbling from her throat. She stood up quickly, and began to walk away down the beach. "Leave me alone." The fledgling spat out painfully, before continuing to walk faster until she went out of sight.

A moment passed before you noticed a concerned looking Walter walking down onto the beach, his brow furrowed with obvious worry. "Where's Anabel? I heard shouting." He asked in his usual tone, gentle but laced with a rising anxiety.

Ambrose watched her go with sadness in his eyes. Concern urged him to follow her, but he knew it'd be no use in this state. He turned slowly when Walter appeared.

"She..." he began, then cleared his throat, voice heavy with emotion. "She walked away. Things didn't go well the night we left." He buried his fingers in the sand and looked out at the ocean. Gray waves parted the blackness, differentiating it from the now-cloudy night sky.

"What? I.." Walter slumped, his eyes growing glassy. "I really fucked up, huh? I-" He cut himself off with a small shake of the head. "I knew I shouldn't have done this to her. No one deserves to go through this.." He said quietly, giving you a small pitying look. "I'm sorry you got caught up in this mess, Ambrose. You're a good person. Far too good to be around the likes of me." You could see the sheer exhaustion in his eyes, he sat down beside you with a huff, his usually beautifully vibrant blue eyes now a dull tired grey almost, heavy lidded and drooped.

"..Look at me, rambling again. I'm sorry," He said even quieter, running a hand through his sandy locks, lost in thought for a moment. "What do you mean it didn't go well? And.. Should we go after her, or?.. The sun will be coming up soon.." He said with an oddly morbid undertone, you don't even know if Anabel will come back by her own, or find somewhere to hide from the day in time, but looking for her would endanger both you and Walter greatly,

"Walter," his voice was nearly lost to the sound of waves, "I don't think it's your fault." If it was anyone's fault, anyway, it'd be both of theirs - Ambrose hadn't stopped Walter from doing this. But that was too heavy a thing to consider until he knew how Anabel would recover.

"She, um..." he swallowed thickly, trying to think of the words. "She asked about her sister. She got all freaked out, and... said she didn't recognize her. She was hungry." He couldn't look Walter in the eyes. Distantly, the sky was going from pitch to gray, but dawn was still an hour off. The search for Anabel could be longer, depending on where she went and when they left the beach... and if she wanted to be found.

"I.. I need to go to Estrid for advice. I wanted to be a good maker, Estrid was a great teacher, but her methods were very harsh.. I wanted to avoid that at all costs but maybe.. Maybe she had the right idea, maybe we all need some tough love when we're first turned." Walter talked absently, looking out to the slowly brightening sky.

After a moment of silence the blonde vampire stood up and began to walk back to the cave across the golden sands, his eyes still dull and lifeless. As you walked into the cave, you noticed Estrid's deep green eyes open suddenly at hearing you and Waltee arrive. She was sitting down at the back of the cave, her body still tense and looking like she was ready to fight at any moment.

"Estrid.. I know you asked me to deal with her myself, but.. I need your help. Anabel has-" Walter was cut off, his pleading falling on deaf ears. "She's run off, I assume?" Estrid said coolly, looking at the pair of you with icy eyes. "She can make her own decisions. If she has any sense she'll realise the mistake she made and will come back. Mistakes can be good lessons."

Ambrose didn't reply to Walter. He wanted to say no, that he got along fine without Estrid's methods, but the words didn't come. Instead he just rose and followed him back to the cave.

When they reached it, the tension was so thick in the air that it could be cut. Ambrose dawdled by the entrance and let Walter speak. At Estrid's comment, he stepped forward, hands behind his back. "Estrid, the sun will be up in an hour," his voice was going hoarse, "I don't think we should leave her out there."

[ik its not really relevant, but this scene reminds me of when little kids screw up & have to go to their mom and tell her lol]

(Honestly, that is a lot of the dynamic between Estrid and Walter, lol.)

"And what would we do if we couldn't find her by the time the sun rose? She'd be dust and so would we." Estrid said coolly, her deep green eyes staring straight at you in an almost predatory way. "If she ran off like that, she must deal with the consequences." The ancient vampire said with her usual unbothered and emotionless tone.

Walter interjected quickly, you could see his frustrating building. "What, so you'll just leave her out there to die?" He said in a sudden moment of anger. "Walter." Estrid slowly walked towards him, the tension was near suffocating as the silent figure walked towards the blonde man. "Trust that she can cope on her own. She's reckless, but not an absolute fool. If you continue to treat her like a child, her recklessness and rebellion will only grow more." Her tone was a little quieter, but you could see her eyes piercing into him like daggers.

Ambrose huffed and crossed his arms, looking behind him at the sky. It was slowly changing from deep gray to blue - a swelling of color that made him nervous. Clouds still obscured much of it, but the stars would disappear soon anyway.

"She doesn't know this area," he broke in suddenly, "She might not find somewhere to hide. There's trees, but the shadows will move and she won't be able to sleep. She'll be tired." Ambrose sighed heavily. "I don't know. This doesn't feel right." The words were awkward on his tongue - he wasn't totally sure he should join the conversation.

(I'm so sorry for not replying sooner. ^^)

Estrid sighed and turned to you, her movements slow and almost lazy as she gazed to you. "Sleeping for us doesn't work the same as with mortals. We get all our energy from blood. Sleeping for most is just a way to pass the time, or a leftover habit from your life." The redhead explained, a hint of annoyance starting to form in her tone.

"But as I said before, what would you have us do? You're free to do as you please, but you will not drag me into a deathtrap looking for some rebellious fledgling that probably wouldn't even come back with us anyways."
