A time where vampire myths are commonly believed, and suspicion of the undead is high.
You reside in the town of Rivercrest, which seems like just another town, but when night falls it becomes far more sinister.

You are a vampire, and now it's time you have to choose whether you'll be swayed by your immortal bloodlust and feast to your undead heart's content, either manipulating your way to the top, using your wits to avoid being caught, isolating from the mortals and only interacting when it's time to feed, or simply slaughtering all those who oppose you. Or, you could try your best to shun who you are, and feed as little as possible, or only on consenting humans. But without feeding, you'll soon begin to find your immortality dwindling.
But, it's not just human hunters you have to worry about, werewolves will stop at nothing to rip you to shreds, if you're not careful, the toxic rays of dawn could soon turn you to mere ashes.

Notes on Vampirism.
A vampire in this roleplay is practically undead, they have no heartbeat, no breathing, and are cold to the touch apart from after feeding on human blood. The longer a vampire goes without feeding, the more they begin to look like a corpse, and the colder they become. If they go too long without feeding, a vampire will enter a 'bloodstarved' rage, and attack anything living on sight. Animal blood can be drank, but it does not reverse the effects of starvation or the inevitable blood rage, merely holds back the cravings for a day or so. A fed vampire may look like your average human, however when intense emotions are shown, or when feeding, their irises will turn crimson and their pupils constrict into catlike slits, and of course their fangs will be visible.

All vampires are immortal in the aspect that they cannot die from illness or aging, however they can still be killed by sunlight, decapitation, total destruction of the head, removal of the heart, or destruction of the heart. Any other injuries will regenerate depending on how recently they fed, a starved vampire will struggle to heal even the smallest injuries, but a fully gorged vampire could regenerate entire limbs in an hour or so.

The abilities a vampire innately has is, enhanced reflexes, speed, strength, enhanced senses, and night vision.

To turn a human into a vampire, they need to be completely exsanguinated and then made to drink a vampire's blood, it's not a process without risks however, as it can fail and either the human will stay dead, or they will become a mindless ghoul that has to be put down.

Notes on Lycanthropy.
Werewolves can vary drastically, but your average werewolf in their 'beast' form is around 7 foot tall, and can come in many different colours, but grey is the most common. In their human form, a werewolf will be harder to identify than a vampire, however a few traits such as more 'wolf-like' mannerisms, more muscle mass than your average human, and for those with more than human senses, the smell of dog, can be identify a Lycanthrope.

Estrid nodded, starting to head out into the night, back onto the cobbled path that curled across the cliff's edge. You noticed just how gaunt and dead the ancient vampire looked, her eyes tinged with red and her skin tight against her bony features, her fangs beginning to poke out from her lips.

Walter often giving a worried glance to the older vampire, although his own condition looked shaky for other reasons. As you walked along the stony road, you could subtly hear the sound of heavy booted footsteps behind you; and so did Estrid.

When you looked back, you'd see three armoured figures, their dress hinting at a mercenary life than that of a knight you'd expect.

He moved in silence, a little behind Estrid and Walter, so he picked up on the sound of footsteps a second before them. At first he thought it was just an echo, but he tipped his head and was startled to realize they were being followed.

Seeing the figures, he hurried to match Walter's pace, feeling safer standing beside the man. He glanced back nervously every few moments. Who is that? he thought, memories of Anabel chased away by a sudden adrenaline rush. "Should we ask who they are?" he whispered, leaning close to Walter.

The heavy footsteps grew closer, then you heard the sound of a sword being unsheathed. One of the figures spoke out with a gruff, deep voice. "We've come here to teach you a lesson. For the assault of Lord Pierpont of Farncombe!" It rung out, but you could hear their hearts beating fast, fear.. It sounded intoxicating and delicious.

You heard Estrid let out a low chuckle, not yet turning to face the three men, but her fangs were fully extended and her eyes practically glowing with bloodlust, looking more like an ancient bloodthirsty beast than a noble woman like she enjoyed charading as.

She turned around, and you saw the three men turn pale with fear, one dropping their sword with an ear splitting clamour. With a burst of speed, hard for even your undead eyes to perceive, she rushed forward and grabbed the unarmed man by the throat, squeezing tight before being forced to drop him as the "leader's" sword came down hard, although far too slowly to pose a threat.

With that, she stood over the man she was choking, stomping down onto his face with a bloody crunch. A second attacker came charging in, being swatted away like an annoyance, tumbling onto the grass then proceeding to drop their weapon, running as fast as they possibly could. "I'm not afraid of you, monster!" The leader of the mercenaries screamed, their racing heart beat and ragged hyperventilating telling of their lie. He charged once more, raising their sword high.. "Then you will die braver than most."

The ancient vampire grabbed his wrist, turning it away from her effortlessly until you heard a sickening snap. Then.. Her jaws went forward, a flash of shining white fangs. Hungrily latching into the man's throat, Estrid began to drink and drink, blood pouring like a waterfall onto the cobbles.

[my bad about the little hiatus, im very busy atm ^^']

Ambrose was fearful at first, remembering vividly what happened at Farncombe, but it dissipated when he saw Estrid spring into action. He clutched a hand to his face at the violence and stared, wide-eyed. Her fighting style was impressive and brutal - he was suddenly very happy that they were on the same side.

The smell of blood reminded him of his hunger. He wanted to lurch forward, to join Estrid in her meal, but he resisted. He'd always tried very hard not to kill the people he ate off of, and now wasn't the time to break that habit. He ground his feet into the road and decided to wait until they were in town and he could find someone quietly.

He turned to Walter. "Do you think they're alone?" Ignoring his hunger, he was more concerned about being attacked again, or for there to be more angry people at Farncombe. It would be bad for them to get sidetracked by that.

"I don't know. I hope not." He gave a distasteful look to Estrid, though you could see the restrained hunger in his deep blue eyes. The redhaired vampire was still greedily clutching the drained corpse, lapping up every last drop of blood like a wild animal. After a painful few seconds, the ancient vampire unceremoniously dumped the body onto the path in a heap, wiping the blood off of her face. She looked far more radiant and alive compared to the walking corpse you saw before, cheeks healthily plumped and rouged, hair luscious and full.. Filled with the life she drained from another, as is the lot of the vampire.

"We need to continue, that little distraction has cost us time we cannot afford to give. Keep up." Her pace quickened to a much faster walk, the path leading away from the coast slightly onto rolling hills and farmland, though the sea was still in view, the thunderous sound of crashing waves filling your ears.

Ambrose nodded to Walter, and followed quickly after Estrid, eager to leave the scene behind. He did wonder what would become of the body... the thought nagged him, and he almost turned around, but he didn't want to see it again. He sighed and focused on the sound of waves instead.

In the distance, he could see the sloped roofs of barns surrounded by smaller buildings, the homes of farmers. Their lights were all out. He was reminded distastefully of his hunger. Nudging Walter, he said, "How much longer will we walk?"

"Not too much farther now. You can see it in the distance now." Walter pointed to the distant farms and houses. "That's just the outskirts, but we'll be needing to head into the main city." And so, the group continued to walk, past the farmhouses and towards the main gate of the city, large stony walks surrounding it.

Infront of the gate, was two armoured men dressed in guard's uniform, orange crests depicting a wolf or fox on their shields and tabards, matching the banners around the outside of the wall.

"State your reason of visiting." Rumbled a gruff voice from one of the guardsmen. Estrid stepped forward, giving a glare. "I am Lady Chamberlain. I assume you have a good reason for holding up me and my companions here.." The ancient vampire said coldly, an authoritative tone to her voice. The two guards looked at eachother, before tentatively stepping away to let you through. "..Apologies, ma'am. Just precautions. Welcome to Dewhurst."

He nodded. It would be good to lay down and get some rest after the long, stressful preceding day and night. He didn't say anything else as they walked - he thought briefly of Anabel and the attack, but there was nothing new to consider, so his mind drifted.

At the entrance to the city, Ambrose eyed the guards but looked away when they noticed him. He didn't want to seem rude. When the gates opened, he headed inside just after Walter, looking curiously at the buildings. Estrid's predictions had been right, as the sky was beginning to lighten up.

"Will we find somewhere to rest?" He kept his voice low, just loud enough for Estrid to hear him clearly.

"There is an Inn just ahead in the main square, after we rest we'll head to the contacts." Estrid spoke bluntly, leading the group into the plaza, a large space of cobbled stones with rows of unoccupied stalls in the middle, planters showing exotic flowers dotted around the place.

This really was a wealthy and prosperous looking city. There was some movement of mortals, those rising early to start their day, bakers hauling sacks of flour to their shops, carts full of fresh produce being pushed along and arranged on market stalls, and the occasional adventurer wandering to the bounty boards to find more gold and fame.

Soon, you were led into a cozy looking Inn, a warm hearth crackling and snapping away, the heat filling your undead bones pleasantly in contrast to the usual deathly chill.

Ambrose looked around, intruiged by his surroundings - he'd always avoided cities in the past. Once in the inn, he was comforted by the fire, and walked to stand beside it. There was a couch and chair laid out in front of the hearth and he sat down.

"Where to now?" he said, turning to see them and speaking just low enough for Estrid and Walter to hear. He felt thankful for their heightened ears.

As you spoke, two people entered the tavern, one tall, buxom woman with stunning red hair cascading down her shoulders, blue eyes far sharper and intense than any mortal woman's. And the figure beside her, a rogueish looking man with shaggy brown hair and light stubble, a confident smirk plastered on his face.

Ambrose's eyes shifted to the door as the two entered. He recognized the glint in the woman's eyes, and wondered if she knew Estrid. If she didn't, what were the chances of them running into another vampire out here? He supposed it wouldn't be a bad place to camp out, with so many citizens, but it was still odd.

He waited for Estrid or Walter to respond, but kept his gaze on the newcomers. He felt a bit on edge after their encounter on the road.

Estrid looked up as the two figures walked in, giving a formal nod as they gravitated towards the table. "Lucian, Elora." The ancient vampire regarded coolly to the two. The man, now in the candlelight was also visibly not human, his movements languid and flowing with a dexterity and grace no mortal could achieve. "Estrid! Looking as lovely as usual. Finally decided you'll accept my offer to share a bed togethe--."

Estrid cut him off, staring with practiced disdain. "The werewolf attacks, Lucian. That's why I'm here." She firmly moved the conversation to the matter at hand, the roguish man frowning slightly. "Pah, you're no fun." He huffed, but knew to back down.

Meanwhile, the woman took a seat next to you, presumably Elora. "So who are your acquaintances here, Estrid?" Lucian piped up, looking at you and Walter. "Walter Kemp. Good to meet you." The blonde man responded formally, though that haunted look from earlier still heavy in his eyes.
