"Oh my stars, can I be?" Jewel whispered excitedly, making sure to not disturb the sleeping lions around her. She then tilted her head to the side, her expression slightly confused "Can you be a star-lion without knowing it?" She asked.


"Bastet is well taken care of" Luna responded, managing not to grind her teeth together "I was sent here to help you, so let me do my job. Tell me where it hurts so I can identify the poison before it spreads" A mild hint of annoyance slipped into her usually monotone voice.

(I thought so. Wine and Roses could potentially witness the scene of Bastet's death, if you'd like to roleplay that some day )

"I guess I don't really know," said Horizon, tilting her head. "But I've just heard stories of lions who came back and didn't know they were a star-lion. Maybe those are just myths. I'll have to ask our expert some day. Still, stranger things have happened, haven't they?"


Will seemed too weak to fight her, even if he had been incline to put up a fight against such a cold and powerful lioness. He seemed surprised at the mention of poison, and the two lionesses leaned forward, then began whispering to each other. "It's just - my stomach," he said. "It's - I don't know, it's cramping up. It started there and now my lungs . . . " He wanted to say "but I think that's because I was panicking," but he didn't feel comfortable sharing such things with this lioness.

(Yes, that sounds like an excellent idea! We can easily skip through to key scenes in our stories, of course, and I definitely am curious about Bastet's death.)

Luna looked turned her attention to the other two lionesses, stifling her annoyance with their chatter.
"Fetch me some water, preferably in a wooden bowl or something similar to that," She said to them, before returning her attention back to Will.

She took off a bag she and other Healers have been wearing and began searching through its content. It wasn't long before she pulled out a couple of leaves, and a different green plant.
"Take this and chew on it," She told Will, as she presented him with the plant "Don't swallow it"

The lionesses cut off their conversation as Luna looked at them, and listened attentively. "Sure thing, miss," said one, standing.

The golden lioness followed suit, giving Will a slightly worried frown. "See if Joker has a bowl," she said, and the two bustled off to find something to hold water in.

Will eyed the bag with apprehension, but as she ordered him to chew the plant, he opened his mouth obediently and started chewing. He wrinkled up his nose at the taste, and looked for a moment like he was going to spit it out, but kept chewing stalwartly.

"List everything you've eaten the past two days" Luna instructed after a while of dead silence and only Will's chewing noises. She motioned for him to spit the plant out the plant, putting a paw right under his chin, indicating he should spit it all out onto it.

"Umm," said Will, coughing slightly but managing to keep from spitting out the plant, "I don't know . . . two days? I must have had - maybe a share of impala, giraffe, and a gerbil? Or maybe not a gerbil, it could have been something else." He struggled to remember, and took a moment to notice that he was supposed to spit the plant out. He spat halfheartedly, getting most of it out of his mouth.

"I see..." Luna said, as she retreated her paw with the plant mush combined and Will's saliva away from him "Did you by any chance remember being taken care of by a Healer in that time? Maybe you were given some sort of plant by them?" She asked, as she looked in the direction where the two lionesses have left. Where was the water she had requested? Why did every lion in this pride have to make her job so difficult?

"Well, yes, our herbalist - healer - takes care of most of the older lions. Helps us keep up our strength. She's given me a few things, but I'm sure she know what she's doing. Even if she is . . ." Creepy? "Young."

As Luna searched for the two lionesses with water, there was a slightly rustling. A few moments later the two were back, both carrying a wooden bowl of water carefully in their mouths so they wouldn't spill. They set them down. "Looks about good?" asked one, looking at Will. "How's he doing?"

(No, that's alright, I love matching the amount of words. It makes me feel majestic and tidy :) Even though that's kinda weird.)

The achromia lioness squinted her eyes at Will as he mentioned his pride's Healer. She would have to speak to the young lioness once she gets a chance.

"His cough should get better" Luna responded, as the two lionesses came back with water. She put the mush from her paw into the bowl. She grabbed some of the leaves before grinding them to a pulp between her paws and added them to the mixture. She took a branch that lay near her in her mouth and began to stir the contents of the bowl. Once it was done, she nudged the owl closer to Will.

"Drink it" She gave him a simple command, while giving him the same dead eyes stare she gave most lions.

Will watched her mix the drink and paused before gulping it down obediently. A loud shriek from where Bastet was still giving birth caused him to splutter, but he finished the bowlful, looking like he didn't like the taste at all. He glanced at Luna. "How long should it take to kick in?" asked the golden lioness.

"Not too long" Luna answered, without looking at the golden lioness, keeping her eyes on Will. Her ears perked up slightly as she heard Bastet's shriek, a flick of her tail being the only sign of her worry. She nudged the now empty bowl closer to the elderly lion, knowing he would need it again once the herbs started taking effect.

For a few minutes an uncomfortable silence fell over them. "You are worried about Bastet, aren't you?" Luna asked unexpectandly looking into Will's eyes, her gaze softening slightly.

The golden lioness murmured to the other, who turned and started back down the path. "She'll tell Horizon everything's going fine," the lioness said, smiling at Will. He nodded, and all was quiet for a bit. Will closed his eyes for as silence fell, letting himself rest for a few seconds. He opened them again and looked at Luna.

She suddenly asked him a question he hadn't expected. "Yes," he said without thinking, then paused and added, "I worry about everything. And everybody." He wasn't going to mentioned what had happened with her and Monarch to this lioness.

"You have met her before, haven't you?" Luna asked again, tilting her head slightly to the side. There seemed to be something different in her voice. Her tone became slightly warmer.

Will matched her eyes, looking slightly less uneasy, though he was still apprehensive. "Yes, I have," he told her. "I met her a while ago, when she was looking at a cub we were trying to find a home for. Do you . . . know her well?"

"Not as well as I should it would seem" She responded, her expression slightly somber. It was the first time that something had betrayed how she really felt inside. It lasted only for a moment though, as her eyes quickly snapped back into her usual dead-eyed stare.

The remedy should be starting to take effect now. She backed off slightly from Will, so as to not get herself dirty.

(The medicine she gave him btw should induce vomiting to get rid of whatever was poisoning him out of his system)
