Sayha eyed the trees overhead, unable to process what had happened. She huffed, slitting her eyes as the sun was uncovered by a cloud, and it hurt her eyes. She sat up, and padded into the water. She plopped down with a splash, showering the otters not too far away. She couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. She rolled on her back, mrrowing contentedly.

Auream squeaked in annoyance as water showered her freshly dried, puffy fur.

Korola let out a quizzical mrrp, staring at the weird looking thing. 'It looks like a butt.' She giggled, despite the shell looking nothing like a butt.

Spice looked up from staring into the water, her beady black eyes flicking over to Auream. The otter swam up to the banks, her brown fur sleeked back by the water as she carried herself onto the muddy shores, latching her claws onto some pebbles.

Auream ran after her mother as she returned to the shores. She stopped at the waters edge, chirping excitedly, bouncing around. “Can you play hide and seek with me mama? Can you?” It was less like a question, more like a demand.

Spice lowered her ears, looking down at her kit, 'Of course, who's hiding and who's seeking?' She briskly climbed to the more solid ground, laying down against the grass.

“Can I hide? And you find me?” she asked, tilting her head. She followed her mother, prancing by her side as she moved. She stopped to let a beetle pass by, then continued at her mother’s side.

Auream thought for a moment, looking at her mother mischievously. “I promise.” she chirped. “Ok, now count to uh, what number is it again?” she thought, seeming to not remember. She pawed at the dirt, thinking.

'twenty?' Spice tilted her head, her ears flicking at the touch of wind. She narrowed her eyes in suspicion at her cub's promise, but decided she should probably trust her. if she did go too far she could just track her scent and get her back quick enough..

“Yeah wenty was the number!” she stood on her hind legs, closing her mothers eyes. “Ok close your eyes and count to wenty alright?” she scampered off quickly, wanting to find a very good spot.

Spice nodded, watching Auream run off. She didn't close her eyes, more just shifted her paws over her face whilst still keeping an eye on her kits. She was still for about 10 seconds before she stood up, opening her maw to catch the scent of Auream.
(heavily debating whether i should be realistic and have spice hold up a kit in the face of a predator or not.. )

Auream giggled as she hid under a rock leaning against a tree trunk. She laid completely flat, breathing slowly and quietly. She hid, looking around. She spotted a butterfly and got distracted. She followed it, jumping and leaping for it. Soon enough the sound of the rippling river faded into the distance…

Spice lowered her ears, going out to the water to grab the other two kits and bringing them back to the den. she held the by the scruff, ignoring squeals of protest as she ushered them into the cave then went quickly to go look for Auream. The otter's tail flicked back and forth subtly as she tilted her head to the canopy in attempts to find a scent once more, eventually running into the undergrowth.

Auream

The small otter slowed, as she didn’t recognize her surroundings. She looked around with wide eyes, her body shrinking as she grew more and more panicked. Auream slowed crawled over to a tree, and hid underneath a thick bush. She could hear pawsteps, but they weren’t her mothers. She could tell. These steps were heavy, and she could hear a deep growl…

Mooi giggled at Korola's remark, trying to see the 'butt' in it. She looked at the shore suddenly, sensing something wasn't right. "Korola..?"

Spice was beginning to worry. she could scent another animal around. Oh dear. The otter raised her head, letting out a short bark-like noise in attempts to call Auream to her, her tail flicking from side to side as her concern rose.
