We went back to square one - we'd like to get your feedback on a new design that we've created, heavily inspired by the current layout - just spruced up a bit, and modernized to use more current web technology! Some Notes: * This is not the final iteration of the layout, it's a preview build - there may be minor issues that will be fixed, or things that we rearrange. Please don't worry about bug reporting or making suggestions for repositioning at this point - we're looking for feedback about how the layout as a whole feels to you! * This layout should be fully mobile responsive, including the lion images and their layers * We are about 99% of the way with color contrast accessibility, and the new accent colors (buttons, progress bars [hunger, energy, etc]) should be colorblind friendly. * Alerts can cause a problem due to very similar brightnesses so icons have been added to alerts to counteract any bad interactions with colorblindness. * Layout Preview Settings: At the bottom of the page there are two options for layout settings. * Text can be resized to your preference within a range. The current default text size (90%) is the most similar to Lioden's current text size. 100% will be the new default when this layout launches, but we will automatically set everyone who is a member at the time to 90% so it's less of a harsh adjustment right away. The plan is that when the layout is implemented, this will be a setting on your account that you can change at will. * The site's theme can be changed to the game's existing layout themes (Day/Default, Night and Desert) and there is a new Dark theme. We are still tweaking Dark theme, and it's important to note that Night and Desert are lower contrast themes and may cause accessibility issues. Preview a Lion Page View the Theme Elements Page Bonus: Landing Page (Xylax is unhappy about the age of the art we've used, it will be updated ;D) Please give any and all feedback within this topic! A few more things, now that I've had a few days to stew on it. I still really like it, just some minor tweaks to be made. • Energy should definitely be at the top of the bars, rather than below Hunger. Energy is a much more important metric and should stay at the top, as not only do I glance at my Energy more, but I care about it far more often than if my king is fed or not due to explore basically feeding your king for free. • Messages should also be available on Mobile without having to open the dropdown, as a lot of people decide to roll freezer accounts based on if they have messages or not. • Maybe move the profile/settings dropdown to after the user's username, rather than after their GB count? That, or it should be at the end of the bar. I just feel like the place it is currently is a bit awkward. • Desert theme absolutely needs more contrast, it's nice, but it can be hard to read how it is currently. 11 players like this post! It looks really clean! Love the new icons, the rounded look is great. The colors on the icons are good too (I like the solid color ones best). I like that some of the actions like revealing fertility have been moved to the lion page. I've always found Crossroads hard to navigate, so having it right there is great. I like that things aren't under drop-down menus, either. I would love a similar update to Crossroads. Some things aren't where I think they'll be, so there's always lots of going back to try a different spot. Combining a few things would be great, like putting the scrying stone and the snakes together, or beetle battles and beetle grounds (these link to the same page, just different tabs??). The last thing is the icons for gold beetles and silver beetles. They look a little harsh edged compared to the other icons. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

I like most of the changes, but could there be an option for 75% and 70% size? I play on the computer and honestly really like how the website feels size wise. If not I understand I just figured I would put that in case it could be done. Also please keep the energy bar first before hunger! I rarely keep track of my males hunger but his energy is the first thing I look for really. Hello, I play lioden off and on but I love this game. My opinion is that lioden really needs to be spruced up. I'm a big graphics person, and As someone who came onto this website within the last two-three years, I could be considered new-ish. One thing that made it very hard for me to pay attention to lioden when I was starting out was the graphics. If you are looking for a change to lioden that will interest those old (& new-ish) players that are off and on, or bring in new players completely, a remodel of the site is required. I can understand becoming familiar with the current layout, as it has been around for a very long time; But change can be good. I think it will really make the website shine, and give it that 21st century feel... lol. I play wolvden a lot now, nearly more than lioden. I want that to change, but every day when I rollover on lioden I immediately have to brace myself for the dated looking layout. It's functional, but it doesn't feel "clean". I'm sure there are other players who feel the same, even if they aren't comparing it to wolvden. I definitely like any idea of change, and I think even those who initially are trying desperately to hold on to the current layout will come to like the remodel just as much, if not more in time. Yes the game will feel different, but its the devs job to make it a better different, for players both old and new. 4 players like this post! Like? |

@queen i agree, i wouldn't stop playing but the whole thing would throw me off immensely and it'd be really. hard for me to get into the hang of playing like that. i’m the type of person who once is in a routine of having something be usual then i dont like it to get changed. if they change the layout i hope theres at least a way they could have an option to chose the old layout theme, like how you chan chose day or night or desert to be your colors. 6 players like this post! i think it would help a lot, theres a lot of people who i think would be better for if they could use the old layout. id also prefer it, one day i might want this new one but i really enjoy the current one right now 3 players like this post! Like? |

Okay, let's address the elephant in the room. All of you that are complaining that you prefer the current layout and that all of you that think the old layout should remain an option.. hold your horses for just one moment. They already said this change isn't optional. They already said that the old layout being an option is not going to be a thing. Please calm down. Take a deep breath and process the new layout calmly. Your frustrations are completely valid. I get you. Really i do. But this is a feedback thread for the new layout and They need and want to come to an agreement with you about the new layout. The old one is not open for discussion. Please understand that lioden needs to change the layout because the new code and the old layout is not compatible. Now onward to my opinion of the new layout. It definetly looks much better on desktop as opposed to on mobile. Could we maybe hide some of the stuff like the role, and decorations as an optional drop down like we have it now. I feel like that might be a healthy meet me in the middle type of thing. Then it wouldn't be so long. I'm of course referring to the options in our current den page known as "callapse editiing panel" and also "callapse decorations panel" If we could get that in the new layout perhaps some of the people that are upset might not be so frustrated as they are now? 7 players like this post! I'm honestly not seeing why recreating the old layout as Closely as possible, or sticking with the general 'style' of this version on the new code isn't feasible. Yes, it won't be the Exact same, but the total unquestionable overhaul of the Whole Aesthetic of the game is still a drastic change you can't expect everyone to just bear with 3 players like this post! 1. The buttons would look better without the shadow or with a thinner shadow. 2. The serif fonts make the text a bit too difficult to read with antialiasing (font smoothing) disabled. 3. Would it be possible to add an option to make the status bars (energy/hunger/exp/etc.) coloured in the Night theme? 1 player likes this post! Like? |
