this design is way too busy for my liking, i love the one we have now and dont wish it to change majorly. this one is just not my style.

I agree that matching the old layout as closely as possible is probably for the best. I suspect a lot of the playerbase is autistic, and we don’t do well with change. The layout isn’t broken, why fix it?

Coming back after a couple weeks, honestly I still agree with what I said. The new layout relies too much on scrolling, and seemingly takes a step backwards in terms of optimization just based off of that alone. The bloated boxes take up way too much space for the little info they have, and don’t shrink with the text size, which really contributes a lot to the page length. Also, one thing I didn’t mention before is the font. I don’t know what specifically about it makes me feel this way, but I really dislike it. It seems way too sanitized and family-friendly, and although it could be a good idea to change up the current font a little, I feel like this one on particular just gives off the completely wrong vibe for what Lioden is. Maybe it’s just because I’ve seen it so much on children’s browser games I used to play, but I really don’t think it’s the right choice here, especially when paired with the icons.

Just had a thought - I'd like to be able to view the active quests that I have without needing to navigate to another portion of the site. Kind of like how the Journal opens up on the new layout example. I'm a mobile user primarily and sometimes my phone reloads the page I'm exploring on, so it's incredibly frustrating at the moment to be unsure of the quest objective I need to complete, and not being able to check without potentially losing the encounter.

Also, minor nitpick for the Journal icon. I really don't like "nameless icons". Like, the Wiki has a book icon next to it but still says Wiki, please put Journal next to the respective pencil.

I know this isn't really a design complaint but I don't think this is necessary in general it's inconvenient for old players, makes the game look like a kid's game to new players, everything is so big, clunky, and feels like a mobile game using free assets

Focusing mainly on the lion page...

What I don't like:
- Name font. It's very big, and with the text being black, it's a big, chunky element for what it is, something not actually that important. Names are frequently not as important as notes. Where will notes be?
- Name not being centered. It does not flow very well. Name, notes, and the lion image should all be centered so the eye hits them all at once.
- Feed play etc being separate buttons. They look better contained within one box, this is very busy, especially with each button having a shadow.
- Increased number of colors in tables. Just busy; it does not actually help me organize what I am seeing. Instead of seeing the values I want to read if I look at a lion's stats, I'm distracted by the patchwork of colors.
- Tables having more padding. Do not need information more stretched out than it is already, personally. It's especially unpleasant in the markings box; this is supposed to show at least the first 10 without scrolling, but in my browser (Firefox), I cannot see the 10th without scrolling
- Heritage being at the bottom of the page. I like being able to see at a glance who a lion's sire is, I do not like having to scroll to see it. The breeding info box + the heritage-cubs-prides history I like as they are now, up top in one compact table.
- Add slot/reveal fert not being with markings/breeding info. It makes more sense to have those buttons where you might actually be thinking about taking the action.
-Size of sidebar info. Again with the big chunky font that distracts from the actual body of the page. I also think the containers could be a little lighter to make the info pop without relying on a big font.


What I do like:
- Find a stud link. Saves a few clicks.
- Import to wardrobe and equipper/equipped decor information being tucked away under appearance. One thing, though: will 'temporarily hide decors' have a button available here that you do not need to expand the section to use? I use this feature a lot when viewing studs.
- Nursing cubs being at the bottom. I don't look at this a lot, seeing as if I want to see a lioness's cubs I can just...click on them from my den, or navigate to them with arrows/the dropdown from the top of her page.
- General set up of the settings area. This is cleaner and wastes less space! I would suggest moving add slot/reveal fert to the relevant sections and place chase/reserve/kill there instead, in a separate div beneath secure/unsecure.
- Addition of lion image + more detailed event info to the sidebar. I like to use the same theme on both accts for the sake of my eyes, having my king's image right there will make telling which I'm on at a glance way easier! The biggest QoL change for sure.


In general, my feedback is the new layout relies far too much on people being willing to scroll to the very bottom of the page for info that is currently important for breeding. If I'm on a lion page, it's to check heritage, breed, or kill. I don't mind whisking away to the bottom for the latter, but I want info I want to actually read where I will reach it -first- and I want all the relevant info in the same place, without too much busy color in the way of the information. The new layout preview prioritizes having lots of colors and buttons over functional information conveyance. That's the way a lot of the web is now, but it doesn't make it good. A lion page should feel more like a wiki entry than a product page, if that makes sense.

Coming back to this after a few months, I stick by what I had said in my first post. I realize that the site needs to be updated, however I don’t understand why, with that update, we need to sacrifice the aesthetic that makes the site unique. Isn’t there a way to fix the underlying problems, while keeping the outward appearance of the site as similar as possible to what we have? Or even just have the same vibes?? I just still don’t think the massive, blocky, modern look of the new layout is a good idea, it will take away much of what makes Lioden stand apart from other games (the new layout honestly looks very childish). Also, I still stand by the fact that there is way too much scrolling for mobile players. The updates made in the time this forum as active have helped with some things, but there is still the underlying issue of too much scrolling and the change in look/aesthetics.

Again, I realize that there are parts of the site that need to be updated for accessibility, and that some of the updates needed would change how the site looks. What I (and likely others) don’t get is why that update needs to then turn into changing the aesthetic of the site completely.

The new design looks too childish and like youre trying to push it to be modern unnecessarily. It feels icky and like a bad, even more confusing version of wolfden. I think the current layout has such a simple and effective feel and you can get so much info from such a small screen area and its great. By chopping everything up and making it all bubbly and round in this iteration it makes it feel hard to scroll through and honestly just not like lioden at all. I do love the jew landing page and think that’s a good change that will help attract new players

I feel like the new design is overcrouded
Veiwing lion pages everything is seperate, so its really difficult to look at a lion without having to scroll through several different things. It feels too childish and vibrant, pulling away from the semi-natural game, and how everything is packed in, it feels too chunky and crouded. Its as if there was no space to fit anything else, like with the current layouts of everything, things are small, simplistic, and give breathing space for people to take things in, unlike the new layouts where its like

I feel like the current layout should be kept, though slightly updated, with maybe new art, new frames or bubbles, but overall similar.. it really just drags away from a calm, inviting game to meet players in and live life in a lion pride. It feels as if its became an intense game, and with intense games comes cruek and intense players..

Coming back to this after a few months, and I still have virtually the same opinion as when I first took a look at the new layout.

I know the site needs to be updated, but I'd love for it to keep the simplicity and general feel the current layout provides. The new one feels cluttered, a bit childish (especially the font), and almost too modern. I also still really dislike the king icon being there 24/7, the lion page not having the lion's name centered, and the amount of tables on the lion page (plus how random the placements feel, especially for the wardrobe & decor buttons).

I do hope the layout preview is how it'll look on mobile, because it just looks... Crowded.

But if desktop would remain with a similar layout as current (ie king's current stats on right hand side where pages load to the left) then it's not as bad.

But I have to agree with others on how lio's current, more 'simplistic' look is just something I like better. :x
