We went back to square one - we'd like to get your feedback on a new design that we've created, heavily inspired by the current layout - just spruced up a bit, and modernized to use more current web technology! Some Notes: * This is not the final iteration of the layout, it's a preview build - there may be minor issues that will be fixed, or things that we rearrange. Please don't worry about bug reporting or making suggestions for repositioning at this point - we're looking for feedback about how the layout as a whole feels to you! * This layout should be fully mobile responsive, including the lion images and their layers * We are about 99% of the way with color contrast accessibility, and the new accent colors (buttons, progress bars [hunger, energy, etc]) should be colorblind friendly. * Alerts can cause a problem due to very similar brightnesses so icons have been added to alerts to counteract any bad interactions with colorblindness. * Layout Preview Settings: At the bottom of the page there are two options for layout settings. * Text can be resized to your preference within a range. The current default text size (90%) is the most similar to Lioden's current text size. 100% will be the new default when this layout launches, but we will automatically set everyone who is a member at the time to 90% so it's less of a harsh adjustment right away. The plan is that when the layout is implemented, this will be a setting on your account that you can change at will. * The site's theme can be changed to the game's existing layout themes (Day/Default, Night and Desert) and there is a new Dark theme. We are still tweaking Dark theme, and it's important to note that Night and Desert are lower contrast themes and may cause accessibility issues. Preview a Lion Page View the Theme Elements Page Bonus: Landing Page (Xylax is unhappy about the age of the art we've used, it will be updated ;D) Please give any and all feedback within this topic! I really like how clean the new layout looks, though it does have a bit of visual clutter going on, especially mobile. Currently you can see a lions base and markings and all of that sort on one page even on mobile, while on the new layout you'd have to scroll down/expand part of the site to see everything which kinda contributes to the whole visual clutter/visually overwhelming thing The old one feels a lot more "all the information at once" than "having to scroll/expand several tabs which might be overwhelming especially for new players"  You can see all the info you need about your lion at once on the old layout, which I really enjoy especially when playing on mobile.  A mix between the clean-ness of the new layout and the amount of clutter(??is that how you say it?? English isn't my first language) in our current layout would be perfect for me personally. As for the event page/everything else, I honestly really like it. It looks super clean and easy to navigate. The only issue I really have is with the lion details page, I remember when I was new to the site I often found myself overwhelmed by site navigation and I feel like if I had joined and the new layout had been the current one I would've been a lot more overwhelmed with all the visual clutter. 5 players like this post! The Layout actually looks pretty good! It's just gonna take a while to get used to for me. Also will there be a dark Mode? Admin Response: Yes, there's a yellow bar at the top with Themes - it has "Dark" in there! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Our problem with the old version of Appearance and Markings is - you can see it very clearly in the screenshot posted above - everything is just all squished together. Marking names cause the "Tier 1" to drop down onto new lines, the button is misaligned, genetics is on 3 lines by itself. It doesn't look good. I personally find that far more overwhelming than what's in the new version. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Abbey Okay, thanks for clarifying. I'm a copywriter not a dev, so obviously I don't know how that works, but why can't those issues be fixed with the same / a similar layout? I think 要's comparison shows it well. The current design is far easier to navigate / less cluttered than the new one. I think mainly it's just because there are fewer boxes all over the place. The only change I personally like honestly is the addition of the find a stud button. On mobile, it's too long and on desktop, there's just too much going on, especially for new players. It looks very overwhelming. To me, there are too many boxes, too many buttons, and the decors (though a nice idea) clutter it up even further. The current design is relatively minimalist, the new one is too informative. One thing I'd ask - you say about the buttons being too small and not having enough to distinguish them from eachother. If you mean the addition of icons, again, why can't they just be added to the current version (not that I think it's necessary but if it makes it clearer for some, surely that could jut be added next to the button name on the original version. There's room to do so, it's not so cramped that you cant 4 players like this post! Like? |

Ooh, didnt notice the way to change layouts until now - Night and Dark modes are lovely!  I can definitely get used to it. From what I see now, there's no big/fundamental changes that need to be made to it, and small adjustments like line thickness and button size can be adjusted after its live and had a test run with users. Looking at it again, I'd also like to throw something else out there. I think the fact that all the boxes are largely the same shape / width is part of what makes it hard to navigate / look at. It's cluttered because it's all the same. The current design is nice because the contrasting box shapes help break up the layout but still in a minimalist way 5 players like this post! Like? |

@Abbey I see your point to a degree, but speaking from personal opinion, I'd far prefer that minimalist layout to having to separate it into multiple boxes. Separating it just then makes everything feel disjointed and so many things to scroll through to find one box, which is a pain on mobile - especially when going through multiple lions. 3 players like this post! I dont like how cluttered it is on mobile, and i dont see the temp hide decor buttons, i also dont see any reason to put a thumbnail of the decor equipped when we can see it just a little higher on the page. The scrolling fir the markings list doesnt do it for me either. 4 players like this post! Like? |

This might be super niche, but I don't like how.. round? every box is? It feels like my Uni platform layout a little. I like most of the changes, but it feels like its been heavily simplified in some areas, which didn't need it. 3 players like this post! Like? |

Looking back at the updated version I like it a lot better! The settings and actions area still feels a bit strange but that may just simply be something that has to get better with time as now it's currently just new and different but it's still an amazing improvement than what was previously shown in my opinion! The "view list" button for the decor isn't something I noticed before but I like it a lot, it makes it easier to digest and looks nicer than the giant images as it fits the rest of the page well. The smooth animation of the text when changing the size is also really nice and not something I noticed before with the setting being at the very bottom. Thank you for reading the responses and making changes as I personally feel this is a step in the right direction and like it a lot better already! 2 players like this post! I mostly use an iPad to play Lioden. I like the new layout, I think I’d quickly get used it. The only possible down side is in the old layout, my energy bar, chat box etc is on my right side. In this layout, at least on the lion page, everything that’s to my right is now down the bottom but until I see some other pages like my den and explore etc I don’t know how much of an issue it will be. I personally, would like to maintain that right section. I don’t hang out in chat channels but I do notice it sometimes while playing because it’s there to my right. I doubt I’ll take notice of it if it’s underneath everything. I look forward to when we can have a bit more of a play with it :) 1 player likes this post! Like? |

I dont like the new lion page. Personally I like it better how it is nowand dont think it should change. The lions den suggestion was way too busy and was very extended and brick like. Even then was still missing quite a few key components and it was just too much on one page. I feel like I would have to spend forever scrolling if this was actually implemented if I were to have to spend time sorting or editing the bios of my lions in mass. I did however enjoy the other suggestions for other pages. But I definitely think the lions pages should not change. 1 player likes this post! Like? |
