There was a mixed reaction, and we've taken that on board. We went back to square one - we'd like to get your feedback on a new design that we've created, heavily inspired by the current layout - just spruced up a bit, and modernized to use more current web technology! Some Notes: * This is not the final iteration of the layout, it's a preview build - there may be minor issues that will be fixed, or things that we rearrange. Please don't worry about bug reporting or making suggestions for repositioning at this point - we're looking for feedback about how the layout as a whole feels to you! * This layout should be fully mobile responsive, including the lion images and their layers * We are about 99% of the way with color contrast accessibility, and the new accent colors (buttons, progress bars [hunger, energy, etc]) should be colorblind friendly. * Alerts can cause a problem due to very similar brightnesses so icons have been added to alerts to counteract any bad interactions with colorblindness. * Layout Preview Settings: At the bottom of the page there are two options for layout settings. * Text can be resized to your preference within a range. The current default text size (90%) is the most similar to Lioden's current text size. 100% will be the new default when this layout launches, but we will automatically set everyone who is a member at the time to 90% so it's less of a harsh adjustment right away. The plan is that when the layout is implemented, this will be a setting on your account that you can change at will. * The site's theme can be changed to the game's existing layout themes (Day/Default, Night and Desert) and there is a new Dark theme. We are still tweaking Dark theme, and it's important to note that Night and Desert are lower contrast themes and may cause accessibility issues. Preview a Lion Page View the Theme Elements Page Bonus: Landing Page (Xylax is unhappy about the age of the art we've used, it will be updated ;D) Please give any and all feedback within this topic! I strongly feel that the new layout with the fresh looking buttons is in conflict with the art style of the lions/backgrounds and most of the art on the site. 3 players like this post! Like? |

I can't go through and read the whole thread right now, so I'm sure folks have already mentioned what I'm about to say, but I have mixed feelings on the new layout. There are some great QOL additions - I love that the breeding buttons are now on a different line from feed/play, so there's less chance of accidentally clicking to breed (especially since the breeding buttons move to the far left after a lioness is fully fed and amused). I also appreciate that the stud search is baked in, so I don't have to dig through my bookmarks to get there. I'm a little worried about the setup of the chase/nature reserve/kill/secure panel, though. The button to secure a lion is way too close to "kill" for comfort! I'd rather we have "secure" with the other lion settings like it is now, or completely separate. I can see myself zoning out and killing an important lion that I meant to secure. I also want to mention that the new layout seems... sprawling. It already takes a bit of scrolling to get to the bottom of a lion's page, but this seems to be almost double what it was. I play with a relatively small window width on desktop, and at 100% zoom, info panels that could sit alongside one another are instead on top of each other. I wish there was a setting to let you choose panels that you want collapsed by default. I don't want to have to scroll past decor, hunts, etc every time i want to chase a lion! There are definitely some elements of the new design that I appreciate - but I think overall, my frustration with all of the scrolling would outweigh my desire for those new features. I'd rather keep the old layout if it's a choice between one or the other. 4 players like this post! Like? |

I am very attached to the opinion of 'if it is not broken, don't try to fix it.' I think at it's presentation with the new profile it's far too busy and large. In the current profiling, you can see everything you need to know about the lion you're viewing in one nicely put together block.. The new one feels much too spread out. I do however, appreciate the icons and sentence available with breeding, it's much more clear. Often I forget if I cotton root bark. I think you could reformat, but keeping the existing layout would be beneficial. In addition, can this open up to more profile customisations? Font, text size, individual colours. This of course, is coming from someone who once did BCC coding in forums, but could there potentially be a much simpler way, without HTML or coding, to enable users to easily add additions or customization? Hello! I'm go excited to see you have progress!!! Waiting for new lio site  I have some critique, because not everything seems comfortable for me: 1  Why breeding is under autobreed? For me, the better is:  Or even  I consider mobile users prefer minimalism! 2 but I won't choose mobile version, I prefer 2 columns  So I would like to ask to have a way to remove this background sides (I forgot the name, sorry)  3 and last, but not least, let us see wardrobe under markings!  Thanks P.s. and about decs and BG: what's about no pictures, but a direct link to the item at items catalogue? Personally, I agree with many of the other responses I’ve seen. It’s way too cluttered, and doesn’t seem mobile friendly (there’s SO much scrolling). I also don’t really think that the style of it fits with the art on the rest of the site (as some people before me have also stated). I think this site has a really good art style/vibe going and I worry that making that too blocky/modern will lose what gives Lioden such a unique ‘personality’. It also really isn’t beginner friendly, and is very confusing to read, in my honest opinion. I think out of all of the previews we got, the lion page is definitely the one that is the most obvious example of these issues, and honestly, I think that if it were implemented, we might see less people wanting to play Lioden. I of course don’t want to sound rude or anything, but these were just my thoughts on the previews we were given. The site works well as is rn, why change the imagery so drastically? I personally prefer the current layout. The new layout seems to be extremely cluttered and has everything spread out everywhere. As some players have said, Lioden is already a game with substantial amounts of information that can be difficult to grasp for new players. If the layout becomes this complicated, not only will it take older players a considerable amount of time to get used, but it will also also discourage many new users from joining or continuing to play this game. Nonetheless, the new layout seems too childish. Although I do appreciate the cute aesthetic, it contrasts strongly against the content and the rest of the art on the website. The bright colors and large, rounded font just aren't appealing to me. There is also a large imbalance in many of the features. The side panel for the king contains all the percentages and the bars, all of which are squished together, whereas the landing page takes a ridiculous amount of scrolling with the giant font and the space in between everything. Not to mention that the percentages for hunger and mood on the lioness page are gone... Having to scroll through the markings is also tedious. On the bright side, I do enjoy being able to find a stud instantly on the lioness page. I would suggest adding in certain new functions from the new layout to the current design, or always having the option for players to choose between the old and new layout. While I do appreciate the work that has been put into this, it seems to be too overwhelming for most of us. 7 players like this post! Hi guys, thanks for your feedback so far. We've made some changes: * Changed most headings back to table headings * Removed the space after lion image - this was a bug * Condensed some information back - Mutation is back under Appearance, hunting info is back in a single line instead of spread out * Breeding buttons are now more condensed while still allowing space to save on misclicks/"fat fingers" * Offered a "List" option for Equipped Decorations with a button to switch between the two views * Separated the Chase/Nature Reserve/Kill buttons out from the main action menu * Added percentages back to the bar (we'd missed these, they were never intended to disappear) * Moved the "Import to Wardrobe" button on mobile view * Appearance and Markings were bugged on a mid-size view, they should not have been full-width/stacked and should instead have been side by side like everything else * Removed "Moderators Online" - that was not supposed to be available for public view * Changed AutoBreed price to 50 SB We appreciate your comments, but a reminder to please keep them constructive if possible. We understand that a change like this can be very emotional and scary, and we understand that the immediate reaction can be very negative. We'd implore you to please give it some time, check back on it, see if it feels better at any point. To those saying "Don't fix what isn't broken" - we get you, but unfortunately a lot of it *is* broken which is why we want to update it at all. The site as a whole needs a big update for accessibility purposes, and a good 60% of users now play on mobile which the site isn't really built for. Button sizes and spacing need an overhaul almost everywhere on the site due to accidental clicks, and we are extremely non-compliant in a lot of areas regarding mobile accessibility (as well as general web accessibility). I hope that you can accept that no matter how close we keep to the current layout, we will need to change the framework, which will inherently change how some things look. 15 players like this post! I quite like the new layout as it is presented, I dont think there's any big changes needed  What I LOVE is that it works on my old browser, everything seems to load fine! I very much hope this old browser support will stay, just as how Wolvden layout is also fully supporting old browsers 2 players like this post! Like? |
