 This thread is part of the Ilanga’s Adoptions clan, although anyone can adopt cubs here. Please check it out, we’d love to have some new members! You are still welcome to request cubs, but keep an eye out for future changes! Welcome! This is one of Lioden’s longest-existing cub adoption threads, created in October 2018. It has since expanded into multiple shelters and a clan. It’s named after the owner’s first broodmother, Ilanga. All of the cubs here are free for the taking, as long as they are marked as “Adoptable”. All you have to do is write a quick roleplay, even if it’s just a couple sentences long. Once you’ve read the rules, you can speak to one of the broodmothers at the adoption center and let them know which cub(s) you would like! Rules -Please DO NOT kill/tree/sell a cub you get from us! They are looking for permanent homes. -You can adopt as many cubs as you like! Just make sure that you can actually care for all of them. -To make things easier for us, please specify the name of the shelter or broodmother you are adopting from in your roleplay. -You don’t need to include a link to the cub, just their name. -We generally have a first-come, first-serve policy, but if someone puts more effort into their roleplay or message, we might choose them instead. -Please do not argue with the decision of a shelter owner. However, if you have a problem (such as a cub not arriving, or receiving the wrong cub), don’t be afraid to reach out to us! -If you break the rules, we may prevent you from adopting a cub here in the future. -We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Born during the poaching season, Vikela lost many of her family and friends to vicious attacks when she was just a cub. She witnessed firsthand the deaths of countless cubs, and made it her mission to protect as many as she could in the future. She trained as a warrior alongside the pride’s other guards before becoming a broodmother, and as a result, she can seem quite tough and intimidating at first sight, especially to outsiders, who she distrusts. However, despite being a bit overprotective at times, she is popular among her pride and a hero to the cubs she raises. Once you’ve gained her trust, she will be loyal until her last breath.
Despite being an elderly lioness, blind in one eye and beginning to lose her hearing, Khatiba is as sharp as ever. She may not be as fast as she used to be, but she keeps a watchful eye on the playing cubs from her resting spot. When they grow tired of running and wrestling, they gather around her to hear one of her stories. She loves to tell the cubs about legends passed down through the generations, of vicious battles and ancient gods. She is gentle and kind, balancing out Vikela’s fiery energy. You may have met her daughter Kuhle at the clan’s stockpile.
Amina is a very trustworthy lioness. She would die before she saw any of the cubs she protected be harmed. Her goal in life is to find a good home for each and every cub she can. She is confident, kind, and most important to her, gentle. If any cub gets hurt in her presence she will be sure to rush to it and care for it to the best of her ability. Though she may get suspicious of some lions, she does her best to trust every lion and lioness she comes across.

An hour later, Byunhyun's small figure was seen. Beside her were two adoloscents who kept their heads down, beautiful fur breezed by the wind. They padded together to the entrance of the den, before Byunhyun nudged them to go onward. By this time, Vikela had returned. (yikes, i have so many unwanted cubs halp) Byunhyun looked restless as her elegant fur came into view, ears twitching. Beside her and, once in a while, winding around her legs excitedly, was a cub. It was one thing that Byunhyun looked so uncomfortable around the small feline, and another for the cub to not look fearful, at all. "Thank Apedemak," The heiress hissed under her breath as she rather forcefully shoved the cub in the right direction of the den. The cub, Duskfall, seemed not to mind at the slight twinge of pain, and focused on the bustling inner portion of the den. The broodmothers, and the utter wild mess of cubs. The black cub stared at them for a heartbeat before scrambling closer to the heiress. "Dusk, go on now." Byunhyun's voice softened at that, nosing the cub again. The nickname had left her muzzle before she could stop it, and the heiress narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the others, thinking that one of them could have noticed her going slowly gentle. Duskfall blinked at her, then lovingly purred against the older's chest fur before dashing to join a tussle between two cubs she had seen. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Alairk had been looking to expand his pride, and new blood was needed within the pride. He had heard about a place where orphan cubs were to be adopted out to any willing pride, and although he seemed intimidating, Alairk was a sucker for cubs. With excitement buzzing in the air around him, Alairk left his pride to check out the orphans. The walk was long, and got much harder as the sun began to rise higher into the cloudless sky, heating his pelt and thick mane to uncomfortably hot temperatures. Alairk had to ignore it and press on, even if he felt like he needed to jump out of his own fur. It would all be worth it he told himself, and he had hoped it was true. The sandy male approached a large cave, scenting many mingled scents of cubs and adult lionesses. He had assumed this was the place, and stepped in, tired but ecstatic to meet a new pride member. His eyes scanned the playing cubs and adolescents; his serious facial expression melted away into a loving and almost motherly one. At first he just sat there, enjoying the sound and scent of playful young cubs who had always tore away his fierce and powerful presence. Finally though, he was looking at each cub carefully, trying to see which one would be a good asset to his pride when grown. Alairk watched as a young cub showed promising stalking skills, and kept his eye on her as she pounced on her playmate. He heard the cub say the name 'Petal' and assumed that the pink lioness was named Petal. He watched the rest of the cubs for a little longer, but knew he would be taking the young cub named Petal to his pride for his Queens to spoil. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Vikela watched Duskfall wrestle with the others, glad that the cub was already making new friends. She padded to the back of the den and gathered a pile of feathers and leaves to make a nest for the cub. Byunhyun’s use of a nickname for Duskfall had not escaped her notice, and she wondered if perhaps the lioness was not as bad as she had originally thought. Lost in thought, Vikela hardly noticed when she accidentally bumped into another of the broodmothers. Her head was full of questions, and answers were nowhere to be found. Had she judged Byunhyun too quickly? Had she overreacted, becoming more defensive than necessary? Or was this some sort of trick, a way of gaining her trust and getting her to lower her guard? She shook her head to clear it, knowing that the older broodmothers would scold her for being so paranoid. It was hard not to be, though. Vikela had suffered much growing up, living through a couple of natural disasters and a famine that lasted for months. And now, with all the poachers about, she was constantly worried about the safety of the cubs. On top of everything that was going on, Ingonyama, who was both her king and her father, was growing quite old, and had become ill recently. His son, the heir to the throne, barely even had a mane yet, and was certainly not ready to lead the pride. She sighed, wishing she could have some sort of break, although she knew she could never leave the family that was counting on her. (Whoops, I wrote... a lot. Well, now y’all know that Vikela isn’t just a mean, judgemental lioness. King Reyes sighed and walked towards the adoption place, walking up, he looked at the ground and then he looked up to the lioness who came close, "H-hello, I'm here to adopt some cubs." The male said, "I was hoping perhaps the ones that would like to come!" He said, then he looked around finding some who came over. "What's your names?" He purred, he listened as Blizzard, Doe, Duskfall, Onyx, Spiral and Whisp all introduced themselves, "Are all of these cubs up for adoption?" Amabala purred. “Yes, they’re all avaliable.” She paused for a moment, then continued, a bit overly enthusiastic . “Thank you so much for adopting them. We have more cubs right now than we know what to do with, it’s been so busy I’ve hardly slept, and our king is getting sick, and...” she trailed off, needing to catch her breath after talking so quickly. “Anyway, thank you.” 0 players like this post! Byunhyun trotted gracefully, entering the den with one swift movement. Her pelt was sleek and well-groomed, hugging her frame to emphasize defined yet non-masculine muscles in the dim lighting. Obviously, she had become even stronger than when she had been an adoloscent, the result of intense training. (Im happy, she hit 1k stats after all that patrolling!) Her dawn-colored eyes wandered for a moment around the wide expanse of hard, bulky rock, before settling upon a timid, silver gray cub. Immediately, the dull but somehow beautiful orbs lit up, and her tail flicked up for a moment, before dragging down on the ground. The cub reminded her of snow, a snow leopard perhaps, white fur becoming a blissful glint in the sunlight. Byunhyun closed her eyes briefly, before padding over to Amabala who was gazing at her with both fear and anticipation. Byunhyun's gentle demeanor to the white cub had seemingly evaporated into thin air, and she was once again cold and sharp-tongued with her words. Especially to Amabala, for 'teasing' the simple yet pretty lioness had brought her a sense of playfulness, which she had never experienced before in her dark past, when she was under the reign of her feared father and king. "Hello, Amabala." For Byunhyun to know the lioness' name was not a secret, she had heard the name flying around the cave from cubs. "I'd like to get the snow leopard-like cub over there, I have no cubs to bring either." Narrowing her eyes, she added a comment that was subtly meant to be an insult hidden under a compliment. "I have heard your name as the cubs here seem to like you for your... Entertaining ways." By entertaining she smugly meant how Amabala was shy underneath her strong mask. 0 players like this post! Amabala looked down at her paws, unable to meet the lioness’s gaze. “Of course you can take her,” she said. She had noticed how gentle Byunhyun was with the cub, but chose not to mention it, nervous about how the lioness would react. The cub had walked over to them and was sitting nearby, listening closely. Amabala gave her a quick nuzzle and sent her on her way. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Byunhyun groomed the cub for a moment, letting her velvet tongue pass soothingly over the cub's fur in short, quick swipes. The heiress paused, and gazed at Amabala with amusement in her eyes. The regal lioness was quick to change her mood and personality, one moment she could be sweet and loving, and the next she could be firing offensive remarks with ease. "Its quite sad that you cannot even look me in the eye," Byunhyun purred to take the sting off her words. "However I can understand." With a low bow, she nudged the cub to the exit of the den, and followed soon after. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, fur being ruffed by a warm summer breeze. (have too many cubs part 2) Byunhyun's thick, long fur felt suffocating once she entered the den. For some odd reason, the day was hot, too hot for Spring, and it was agitating for a lioness with quickly growing pelts like her. She shook her curled fur for a moment, basking in the cold temperature of the den, before padding over to Amabala like usual. Trailing after her in unsteady paws, a cub with beady, cunning eyes named Dua walked with wariness. She stared at Byunhyun for a split-second, before, like a ball of energy, dashed past the two adults and into a dark corner of the den. Byunhyun's eye twitched in annoyance at that, but she made no comment other than a cold "the cub is a bit different than others," before already trotting out of the space. 0 players like this post!
