A time where vampire myths are commonly believed, and suspicion of the undead is high.
You reside in the town of Rivercrest, which seems like just another town, but when night falls it becomes far more sinister.

You are a vampire, and now it's time you have to choose whether you'll be swayed by your immortal bloodlust and feast to your undead heart's content, either manipulating your way to the top, using your wits to avoid being caught, isolating from the mortals and only interacting when it's time to feed, or simply slaughtering all those who oppose you. Or, you could try your best to shun who you are, and feed as little as possible, or only on consenting humans. But without feeding, you'll soon begin to find your immortality dwindling.
But, it's not just human hunters you have to worry about, werewolves will stop at nothing to rip you to shreds, if you're not careful, the toxic rays of dawn could soon turn you to mere ashes.

Notes on Vampirism.
A vampire in this roleplay is practically undead, they have no heartbeat, no breathing, and are cold to the touch apart from after feeding on human blood. The longer a vampire goes without feeding, the more they begin to look like a corpse, and the colder they become. If they go too long without feeding, a vampire will enter a 'bloodstarved' rage, and attack anything living on sight. Animal blood can be drank, but it does not reverse the effects of starvation or the inevitable blood rage, merely holds back the cravings for a day or so. A fed vampire may look like your average human, however when intense emotions are shown, or when feeding, their irises will turn crimson and their pupils constrict into catlike slits, and of course their fangs will be visible.

All vampires are immortal in the aspect that they cannot die from illness or aging, however they can still be killed by sunlight, decapitation, total destruction of the head, removal of the heart, or destruction of the heart. Any other injuries will regenerate depending on how recently they fed, a starved vampire will struggle to heal even the smallest injuries, but a fully gorged vampire could regenerate entire limbs in an hour or so.

The abilities a vampire innately has is, enhanced reflexes, speed, strength, enhanced senses, and night vision.

To turn a human into a vampire, they need to be completely exsanguinated and then made to drink a vampire's blood, it's not a process without risks however, as it can fail and either the human will stay dead, or they will become a mindless ghoul that has to be put down.

Notes on Lycanthropy.
Werewolves can vary drastically, but your average werewolf in their 'beast' form is around 7 foot tall, and can come in many different colours, but grey is the most common. In their human form, a werewolf will be harder to identify than a vampire, however a few traits such as more 'wolf-like' mannerisms, more muscle mass than your average human, and for those with more than human senses, the smell of dog, can be identify a Lycanthrope.

[hey - sorry for disappearing for 3 days, i should be back now!]

He watched in silent confusion as Walter bit his wrist. Slowly, realization dawned on him, and he furrowed his brows in an upset expression. He dreaded to think of what Estrid would do if she found out about this.

He seemed dumb-founded on what to say, but he managed to mumble, "Do many people pull through?" His voice was quiet and unsteady. The night was still early, but he looked exhausted already, not used to so much activity.

(That's fine! Welcome back. ^^)

Walter stared off blankly at the unmoving form of the woman for a second before replying with a sigh, guilt lacing his voice. "Most do, it's whether they're still sentient after. It's a 50/50 chance, Ambrose. I hope you do not think less of me."

"Most vampires will be aggressive and frenzied when they first awaken, but with some calming they should hopefully come back. If they don't.. There's not much of a choice but to put them out of their misery." He explained, his eyes darting from the still figure to you.

"That's why Estrid is so against random turnings, feral vampires are mindless revenants, the only thing they know is to kill anything that moves. Unfortunately there's no cure for it." As he said this, the woman's body started to convulse, blood seeping out of their mouth with a disgusting gurgle which caused Walter to step back. Her eyes opened to reveal a pair of bright red irises with slitted pupil, wild and panicked.

She tried to get up, but her movements were jagged and clumsy, stumbling back onto the ground. Walter was already over there, cautiously holding out s hand. "It's okay Lass, you're safe now.." He soothed, his voice quiet and soft as not to overwhelm her anymore. She warily grabbed his hand, he flinched in pain at the force that she grabbed but stayed still and gentle. "Easy now, are you there Lass?" He asked, a small but bittersweet smile on his lips.

"What is wrong with me?.." She choked out, her eyes still red beginning to water. "All in due time, I'll explain everything. But I don't want to overwhelm you too much." He said gently, looking over to you as if asking for help.

(ty! man i am peeved rn 💀 not ur fault, just had an issue with my commissioning page)

Ambrose took in the words silently. He didn't know what to think or say. He hoped the woman would be okay - she didn't deserve to suffer further.

He understood what Walter meant about feral vampires. He'd been lucky enough, considering he woke up alone in an alley. Panic was all he could associate with the vague memory. He'd run out into the street, and met with someone else, someone he didn't think about anymore.

The gurgling cut off his thoughts. Startled, he jumped backwards, staring at her body in horror. He watched as Walter tried to soothe her and carefully approached again, holding his hands out in front of him.

"It's alright," he said softly, "You're alright. It'll pass." He hoped it was true.

With the help of Walter, the woman steadied herself and stood up shakily. She seemed to calm a little, but her eyes still darted nervously, but a tint of awe creeping into her expression. "Why does everything look so wonderful? It's like I can see every blade of grass.. Every colour seems so bright and beautiful, I... What happened?" Her tone sobered from her amazement into confusion and distrust. "What have you done to me?.."

Walter sighed, obviously thinking of how he can break it to her. "We saved you, you were.. Dying. I.. We're vampires. I turned you to save you from death. I know this is a lot to take in, but I promise you that I will explain every question you may have." The woman stumbled backwards, pushing him away, her eyes growing wide and fierce. "What?.." She stammered. "No, no!" She screeched, her voice turning to an unnatural, booming snarl.

Ambrose was surprised by her first reaction. He'd never seen someone turn before, not in person - he wondered if this was normal. He darted forward when she began panicking, hands extended in a gesture of good will.

"Don't freak out!" he begged awkwardly, "We're nice. I promise. We just want to help." He glanced at Walter, and at the road, vaguely questioning whether they should try and bring her somewhere more private.

Another shuddering convulsion shook through her body, a long pair of ivory fangs poking out from her mouth. "It hurts so much.." She groaned pitifully, at the sound or your voice she looked up at you, as if seeing you for the first time but said nothing, but soon the fear turned to dejection and resignation.

Walter tried soothing the woman again "Let's get you somewhere you can calm down, I'll get you something for the pain.." He said with that same weary gentleness, lending a hand to stabilise her as she stopped fighting it, the red beginning to fade to a dull glow.

He slowly put his hands down as she calmed. Joining Walter, he edged to her side, where he could help if she passed out or anything. He felt much better now that she wasn't panicking.

As they headed out of the shadows, Ambrose looked around to ensure they were alone. He didn't know what to say if someone saw them. Plenty of the residents knew either Walter or him, and they probably knew this lady, too - it'd be suspicious for the three to be stumbling around after dark.

Gently easing her along, he looked back at you and gave a small, genuine smile, before turning back to the newly awakened vampire. "Come on, we'll get you to the Inn, get you next to a warm hearth and a nice glass of brandy for the nerves." He said kindly, the fledgling gave a small nod but gave no further reply.

"Can you remember your name?" Walter asked cautiously, as the woman visibly strained to think of the answer. "Anabel. Anabel Meredith." She said after a moment, you recognized her as the local fishmonger in the marketplace, her long usually neat tied back hair now bedraggled and bloodied. "I'm Walter Kemp." He introduced.

Ambrose stiffened when he heard her name - he was glad she remembered, but he recognized her by her sister. Rose was an ex-friend of his and they weren't on very good terms. Excusing that, he simply said, "I'm Ambrose Fawcett."

They were nearing the inn. Its windows glowed softly, casting golden squares onto the street. Ambrose looked at Anabel's outfit, smothered in blood, and removed his coat to hand her.

Anabel looked at you with distrust for a second before she cautiously took the coat, "Thank you.." She muttered quietly, you could see her strength was failing her as Walter guided her in, getting her sat down on a chair closest to the hearth. "I'll be right back, I need to get something for her. Ambrose, could you keep an eye on Anabel for me? Maybe you could help explain the.. Situation, to her." He said the last part quietly, before turning to walk upstairs.

Anabel looked at you weakly, a trace of suspicion still heavy in her glare, but you could see her doing her best to stay strong and stable. "What even.. Happened to me? Walter said that I.. Died. What's even going on? How am I alive now..?" She began to panic slightly, her nails biting into the wooden chair, splintering the wood. "Everything is so confusing and overwhelming.." She admitted, her icy blue eyes glistening with genuine fear and dread, tears beginning to fall down her cheeks.

Ambrose nodded as Walter left. Turning to Anabel, his eyebrows furrowed, and he considered how best to comfort her.

"Well..." he began carefully, "Something... happened. You were attacked. You lost too much blood, so... Walter and I turned you. But it'll be okay!" He added the last bit quickly, "I promise it gets easier. We can help you figure it out."

(Sorry for being away most of today! ^^)

Anabel's face grew frustrated, but she still tried to keep her tone calm and collected as much as
possible. "But what or who attacked me? What does this all even mean?.." She vented, before quietly asking a question she clearly was terrified of the answer to. "..Am I a vampire now?" The earthy haired woman asked gently, her voice breaking slightly.

Walter came back down from upstairs, and as he did you noticed Anabel perk up predatorily, her eyes going red once again in an instant. Then you smelled it, fresh blood. Walking slowly, as if to not spook or on the contrary, excite her with the sudden movements. "Here, lass. Drink, it'll make you feel better." He smiled sadly, handing a small silver goblet of crimson nectar to her which she took without hesitation, she looked almost transfixed with it. Not in a state to decline, she timidly took a sip, but as soon as it hit her tongue she began to greedily gulp it down, almost grotesquely so.

(sall good - i was busy too lol)

Ambrose rubbed his arm as she drank. He hadn't been able to answer her, but now he figured she knew. Looking at Walter, he narrowed his eyes, silently questioning where he'd gotten a glass of blood so quickly.

"It isn't important who attacked you," he said when she was done, "But they didn't mean it." He preferred not to sully Estrid's name. She was mean, sure, and not his favorite vampire, but she didn't deserve to be hated for this.

Walter gave you an unreadable look, but it then changed to gratefulness and affection. Anabel sighed, seemingly calmed down once more, but the sadness still lingered somewhat in her frosty blue eyes. The blonde older vampire put a gentle hand on her shoulder in silence for a second, the crackling of the fire seemed to ease the mood. He sat down beside her before speaking. "You are a vampire now, Lass. It's going to take getting used to, and it's not without it's sacrifices.. But you have been given what most mortals dream of, no fear of time or death. And you can do with it what you please, learn the beauties that this vast world has to offer that you couldn't have even dreamt of as a human."

Anabel perked up at his little speech, seemingly the idea of being able to live a life of freedom and exploration appealed to her, but then the obvious dawned on her again. "I.. Have to drink human blood, right?"

"That is correct, our eternal thirst is our biggest vice, we have no choice but to feed off the life of others. But, you can learn to control yourself, and only take what's absolutely necessary without killing. As Ambrose and I do." He explained, you could sense the guilt starting to eat away at him, but he said nothing of it. "And, as you may know, vampires cannot survive in sunlight, it will.. Kill you. But, we do have far superior strength to any mortal, one fledgling may have the strength of 10 men. Our speed is unmatched, our vision and the way we experience the world is so much more than a human does."

[april fools is harsh this year lmfao, i thought i opened a different site when i logged on]

Ambrose found himself smiling as Walter spoke. The little speech even made him feel better - the man had a better way with words than most. Allowing Walter to explain, Ambrose leaned back in his chair, looking at the fire silently.

He never thought he'd turn somebody. Certainly not like this. He was glad Anabel calmed down quickly, and that Estrid was away. Then something dawned on him.

"You should stay here tonight," he said suddenly, "For safety. Or at least until your clothes are clean." He didn't know where Anabel lived, but it would be dangerous to send her home, as inexperienced as she was.
