A time where vampire myths are commonly believed, and suspicion of the undead is high.
You reside in the town of Rivercrest, which seems like just another town, but when night falls it becomes far more sinister.

You are a vampire, and now it's time you have to choose whether you'll be swayed by your immortal bloodlust and feast to your undead heart's content, either manipulating your way to the top, using your wits to avoid being caught, isolating from the mortals and only interacting when it's time to feed, or simply slaughtering all those who oppose you. Or, you could try your best to shun who you are, and feed as little as possible, or only on consenting humans. But without feeding, you'll soon begin to find your immortality dwindling.
But, it's not just human hunters you have to worry about, werewolves will stop at nothing to rip you to shreds, if you're not careful, the toxic rays of dawn could soon turn you to mere ashes.

Notes on Vampirism.
A vampire in this roleplay is practically undead, they have no heartbeat, no breathing, and are cold to the touch apart from after feeding on human blood. The longer a vampire goes without feeding, the more they begin to look like a corpse, and the colder they become. If they go too long without feeding, a vampire will enter a 'bloodstarved' rage, and attack anything living on sight. Animal blood can be drank, but it does not reverse the effects of starvation or the inevitable blood rage, merely holds back the cravings for a day or so. A fed vampire may look like your average human, however when intense emotions are shown, or when feeding, their irises will turn crimson and their pupils constrict into catlike slits, and of course their fangs will be visible.

All vampires are immortal in the aspect that they cannot die from illness or aging, however they can still be killed by sunlight, decapitation, total destruction of the head, removal of the heart, or destruction of the heart. Any other injuries will regenerate depending on how recently they fed, a starved vampire will struggle to heal even the smallest injuries, but a fully gorged vampire could regenerate entire limbs in an hour or so.

The abilities a vampire innately has is, enhanced reflexes, speed, strength, enhanced senses, and night vision.

To turn a human into a vampire, they need to be completely exsanguinated and then made to drink a vampire's blood, it's not a process without risks however, as it can fail and either the human will stay dead, or they will become a mindless ghoul that has to be put down.

Notes on Lycanthropy.
Werewolves can vary drastically, but your average werewolf in their 'beast' form is around 7 foot tall, and can come in many different colours, but grey is the most common. In their human form, a werewolf will be harder to identify than a vampire, however a few traits such as more 'wolf-like' mannerisms, more muscle mass than your average human, and for those with more than human senses, the smell of dog, can be identify a Lycanthrope.

Ambrose blinked and sat up as Estrid entered. His hair was a fluffy mess from sleeping. The room felt warm from the fire, and he rolled up his sleeves before talking.

"Evening," he said, in a quiet voice. He cleared his throat and said it again, louder, so that they could actually hear him.

Walter turned towards you and gave a small wave "Hey Ambrose." He smiled, seeming a little more his usual self than yesterday. Estrud simply gave a curt nod, her attention turning back to Walter.

Suddenly, the sound of the door opening with reckless strength and speed caught the attention of every vampire in the room. Stood there, was a bedraggled and exhausted looking man, his eyes however looked glazed and distant. "An urgent letter for you, Mistress Chamberlain." The man spoke with an eerie calm, he looked completely dazed. She took the letter without saying a word and flicked a dismissive hand to the man, whom quickly walked out.

With a sharp, finely lacquered nail she tore open the envelope, her expression turned to that of genuine anger as she turned even paler than usual. "Estrid, what's wrong?" He asked with clear concern and fear already gripping his voice. Without a word, she gave the note to him, who stared with wide eyes. "How.." He choked out.

Ambrose was in the middle of a yawn when the man entered, and the change in atmosphere startled him. Seeing the seriousness in their expressions, he stood off the couch, righting his shirt so that he looked somewhat presentable.

He stood a few feet from Estrid and Walter, unsure of whether to intrude or not. He couldn't tell if this was private business.

The silence was almost unbearable for a few seconds, before Estrid finally broke it. "Thirty vampire casualties. A few of my own progeny, including my firstborn daughters, even blood-siblings.. Dead." She said with an eerie quiet, she wasn't outwardly raging or sad, she just looked hollow.

Walter however seemed to show his emotion more, but he looked emotionally tired and worn down. "Right, Walter." She said in a governing tone, her voice level and cold once more. "Couriers are too risky for this job, I need to move, now. We need to concentrate all our forces into one area, having small groups dotted across the country isn't enough anymore. It's going to take all my influence, but we must all gather at Elmchester, I have enough ties to keep the mortals.. Quiet and obedient over there." She ordered, which Walter nodded at in respect. "I'll come with you, as you just said, we have to rely on strength in numbers."

Estrid gave a searching look towards him "It will be long and dangerous, Walter." She sighed, a small speck of emotion creeping through. "I don't want you to meet the same fate." Walter gave a surprisingly stern look, a determined expression on his face. "If I'm to die, it will be helping our kind, not hiding like a coward."

Walter then turned to you, "I hate to drag you into this, but you would not be safe alone here."

Ambrose's heart dropped at the news. He suddenly felt very, very lucky that Walter and him had been safe the previous night. He watched, fiddling with his hands, as the two talked. He couldn't image how Estrid must feel - to have her family disappear suddenly with no say in the matter.

It took him a moment to respond to Walter. He had to take a deep breath to clear his mind. "I would rather come with," he said, "I... I can help. I promise." He turned to Estrid with the last bit, hoping she wouldn't mind his presence.

Estrid turned with a surprising light respect in her voice, "I'll trust you to stay true to that" She sighed. "Right, well, I need to prepare things, our first stop will be Farncombe. There's a few vampires I know of there." She said without elaborating and just simply walked off. Walter gave out a heavy sigh, "Well, I'm sorry to the poor soul she finds." He muttered under his breath, running a hand through his blonde locks.

"This hit Estrid especially hard tonight, there's been many attacks upon vampires recently, but this is a big one. You know what Blood-sibling and firstborn means, right?" He said without any of his usual spark.

Ambrose nodded solemnly to Estrid. Watching her go, he wondered if he'd have time to get some things from his house, or if they'd go straight from the inn. He hoped he'd have time to at least leave a note on his door.

"...No, not really," he confessed. He'd assumed she meant her family, but if she didn't, then he had no idea.

"Those are terms her maker made up, and they kind of stuck by her. A blood-sibling is someone who was turned by your maker alongside you, and firstborn, are those born of your blood directly, mortals that you've personally turned. She's only turned those very close to her, so you can understand why this was such a big hit for her." He said solemnly, his eyes betraying his fear.

"There was some very old vampires in that settlement, some even as old as Estrid. If.. They were all slaughtered in one day. I'm fearful." He admitted, biting his lip.

"God..." his eyes widened in horror. "That's horrible." Slowly, he realized that, if these people were turned alongside her, Estrid must've known them for hundreds of years. He felt like a hole was opened up in his chest.

Carefully, he added, "Does she think werewolves did it?"

"It's almost definite it was. No humans could do that.." He sighed, his eyes gaining a small crimson glow as his fists tightened, an almost painful looking shudder wrenching through his body as he was lost once again in thought. Eventually, he sighed, composing himself somewhat with the stoicism of a warrior. "Apologies, there was.. People I knew in that town." He seemed to shake himself back to a collected state.

"You should go and prepare, don't be too long." He said with a surprising sternness. "And, stay safe." He added, that hint of gentleness returning to his voice.

Ambrose nodded silently. He didn't know what he could say to help Walter feel better.

"Of course," he replied, looking around the room one last time before slipping out and down the stairs. Once outside the inn, he headed down the street, finding himself unnaturally anxious about the shadows between buildings - this fear mounted as he walked, and he ended up running most of the way to his house.

He lived in a small building near the edge of Rivercrest, where the lawns were bigger and weedier and the street began breaking up. He got inside quickly and traded out his bookbag for a large leather bag. Gathering shirts, he folded them into the bag, reflecting that he wouldn't be able to carry much - just clothing and an extra pair of shoes.

Before he left, he tidied up the main room and scribbled a note on a scrap of paper - out for an unknown period of time. He tacked this to his door and hurried back towards the inn.

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a small bit of movement in the shadows, the alleys and cobbled streets looked dead and eerily silent, but you couldn't help but feel like there was movement all around you. Suddenly, in the distance you saw a figure with unnaturally languid and nimble movements jump down into the secluded shadows, their movements too fast for even your vampiric senses to entirely see. A stifled scream could be heard that was quickly cut off from where the figure lunged, the gentle pattering of blood drops ringing in your ears.

Ambrose slowed when he saw the figure. His first thought was that it must be some person - but people didn't move that fast. The resulting scream made the hair on his neck stand up. Taking a few steps back, he wondered if he could take another route.

Deciding that he couldn't wait around, he turned and began dashing back down the street, towards his house. He hoped to get inside and grab a knife before this thing chased him. His bag slowed him down, and he cursed it, praying that he hadn't seen a werewolf.

Before you could react, a vice tight grip grabbed onto your shoulder, without even realising someone was behind you prior, their claws digging into your shoulder painfully.

"Why were you running? Werewolves?" The figure ordered, and from the voice you could tell it was Estrid. Looking at her, you could see she was nearly smothered head to toe in blood, a varying degree of drieness indicating multiple kills. Her every movement was so much more languid and poised almost enchantingly so, her smooth marble white skin given a lifelike red blush, her emerald eyes so vibrant and strong, everything about her looked radiant. Then you remembered why, she had stolen that life from others.

Ambrose shrieked when the hand grabbed him - only for it to cut off awkwardly when he heard Estrid's voice. Panting, he stared at her, shocked by the stench of blood.

"I thought you were a werewolf," he hissed, pulling away from her grasp. He was annoyed - and a little embarrassed - by how scared he'd been only moments before. "What are you doing?"
