"I look...forward to seeing...them grow" Banshee said quietly so she didn't disturb the little ones. Banshee's face softened as she looked at the pups.

Sol yelped a couple of times but with Dakota's help managed to wound the cougar and drive it away from her pups. Sol immediately checked her pups for injuries but they seemed fine. Sol had a deep scratch on her right shoulder and left hind leg from the fight. Sol's muzzle was covered in the cougars blood.

"You two are grounded when we go home! you hear me?" she growled sternly at her pups.

Sol turned to Dakota and checked him for wounds. "If you got hurt your pack wont be happy with us" Sol mumbled.

Atlas smiled at Banshee. She silently wished these wolves would join them. She didn’t know what their lives were like, but considering how timid Banshee is she felt it wasn’t good.

“Do you think you’ll ever have pups one day?” Atlas asked the female. She hoped it wasn’t innapropriate.


Dakota breathed heavily. “Ya... I’m fine...” after a few deep breaths, he spoke again. “My pack knows I can take care of myself. They would never blame you. Let’s get the pups back, you need rest.” He stated, looking at the large gashes on her body.

Banshee looked puzzled at the question and slightly embarrassed. Banshee thought about the question and her tail wagged slightly. Still Banshee hesitated before answering.

"It would be nice...my silence and size...scare others away usually" Banshee responded. Banshee sighed quietly and looked at Atlas before adding "My father doesn't help".

Sol looked at her pups unable to hide her anger. "I told you both not to leave the den site, we could have all gotten killed! you two are to walk in front of us the whole way back to Nanooks den site! Once we get there you will not be leaving my sight!" She growled.

Rapture and Sorrow were not used to Sol being angry with them and chose to obey her. They began walking back towards the den site with their tails tucked between their legs slightly. Sol was not ready to look at her wounds and instead decided to ask Dakota some questions. "Your pack...how do you feel about them?" Sol asked.

Atlas frowned, and motioned for Matsi to leave. As he left, he got everyone to leave the mouth of the den as well. "Lay down next to me, dear." Atlas said. "Would you like to talk about it?" She asked.


"They saved mine and my brother's lives when we were younger. They are caring, which was strange to me at the time." Dakota stopped himself. He wasn't used to opening up, and he hadn't had to since joining this pack. It's not like they meet many new wolves.

As they walked closer to the pack, Dakota couldn't help his mind wander to his brother and Kai. Ahanu would become a father in a few months. It was crazy to Dakota. When they were younger, Dakota never would have thought they'd have a loving family, and he was grateful.

Banshee did as Atlas had said. Banshee found Atlas oddly comforting much like Sol was. "Its a long story if you are willing to listen?" Banshee replied.

"sorry if my question bothers you" Sol said quietly. "They seem very welcoming and I'd be lying if I said their offer didn't sound good to me, to leave my mate...feels unusual for a wolf to do" Sol added.

The twins looked at each other then to Sol. Sol had faced the truth about her mate and accepted that he had to go for the good of her pups and pack. Sol did feel cruel for not feeling pity for her mate with the horrible winter on the way but then again he probably deserved what he got. Sol might of loved him once but lately she felt as if she wanted him gone for good.

“Of course, dear.” Atlas said.


“It doesn’t bother me at all. You’re still quite young. Even if you left your mate I’m sure you could find someone right for you... if that’s what you want of course.” Dakota thought for a moment, but decided to leave it at that. Maybe she’s content with the family she has, why wouldn’t she be. She someone managed to raise all these pups, and from what he saw at the river, he assumed she did it on her own.

"From what I know my parents were mates because they did love each other but things changed with my birth, my father came from a pack where abnormalities were seen as weak and he was caught trying to get rid of me by abandoning me, his brother attacked him trying to convince him it was wrong but ended up having to run back to the den with me to save me, ever since he has become crueler especially with the birth of the younger two but mum has always loved us even with our oddities." Banshee said quietly. "my father is responsible for my ripped ear and the scars on the twins, and the many scars my mothers fur hides" she added.

"I guess so and my pups would be better off with out a father that tries to kill them every chance he gets" Sol said. Sol wished she was joking but Turbo really couldn't stand the pups. Sol smiled slightly. "but I will need to find a mate that doesn't mind pups that aren't his own and would treat the pups more decent then their father" Sol added.

“That’s just awful,” Atlas replied. She couldn’t stand the thought of them returning to their alpha. “You guys must stay here, it’s not safe for you back home. We will take care of you guys,” Atlas told Banshee.


“Well, if you can’t find a mate, our pack will surely take you all in. Nanook and Atlas adopted me and Ahanu, and they’ve taken other young wolves under their wing who were unable to care for themselves in the winter. They’ll help you guys if you don’t want to leave. Our group can go back and get the rest if you want, I’ll make sure Turbo stays away from you.” Dakota offered.

"I can not make that decision, It is my mothers choice but I have a feeling she will agree any way" Banshee responded. Banshee had a kind smile on her face but seemed wise for her age. "Maybe if my voice wasn't the way it is he wouldn't have been so aggressive but I wouldn't have been as strong as I am now if things were different" Banshee said calmly.

They were getting close to the den site now and time seemed to pass by faster when she spoke to Dakota so she felt no harm in continuing. "I'm beginning to like it here anyway, It wouldn't hurt to stay with you guys for a while, until I get things back on track, I'm going to take you up on that offer if you don't mind, I just hope there is still a pack to save" Sol replied. Sol kept an eye on the twins who were behaving themselves so far.

“Well any wolf would be lucky to have you, with your size and strength especially. You’re pups would almost guaranteed make the winter.” Atlas told the female. “Why don’t you go ask your mother? Or tell her Nanook wants to see her and he can ask her if you’d like.” Atlas said.


As they arrived at the densite, Dakota turned to Sol. “Why don’t you go rest, I’ll watch the pups.” Dakota helped train all of Atlas’ offspring, from Kai to Tamaska, and he will be training the new ones as well once they’re a year old. He was fully capable of babysitting.

"Thank you Atlas, I will talk with my mother, please rest well" Banshee replied. Banshee rose to her paws and walked to the entrance. She looked back giving one last look at atlas and her pups before walking out the entrance. Banshee looked around for Sol.

Sol smiled and chuckled. "They can be a handful so good luck and thank you" Sol replied. The twins looked up at Dakota and were too nervous to do something wrong. Sol walked off to find a resting spot, It didn't take long to find one. Once she was laying down, she went to work cleaning her wounds.

When Banshee noticed her mother she quickly noticed the scratch wounds and ran to her mother. She lay down and helped Sol clean the wounds. Sol smiled gratefully at Banshee and relaxed slightly. "Hey I have a question for you Banshee" Sol said quietly. Banshee looked at Sol patiently waiting for the question. "Are you ok with staying here? Do you think its the right decision?" Sol asked.

Banshee was relieved she didn't have to ask. "Mother the choice is yours to make but if what I think matters, I would gladly stay anywhere as long as the pack was with me" Banshee replied. Sol nodded and smiled at Banshee.

Atlas smiled at Banshee and then decided to take a nap.


Dakota nodded at Sol and then looked down at the pups. “Have you two ever been on a hunt before?” Dakota asked. They were little, but, he didn’t know if they’re pack trained them yet. Here, training begins when they walk. It starts with play fights, then escalated to chasing rabbits Dakota catches for them. As they get stronger, Dakota takes them on a hunt. Obviously it’s a long and difficult task, but when they practice everyday it becomes habit, and this habit can be the difference between life and death in the winter.

"Rapture can't see so he wasn't taught to hunt but I've been taught to hunt by Banshee or at least she was teaching me but something happened when she went to talk to our parents about it. Rapture can track really well though so I think he should be trained to track down pray" Sorrow said. Rapture looked at Dakota and squinted to try make out what Dakota looked like but all he could see was a dark blob. "I can see but everything is just blurry blobs of colour, thank you very much Sorrow" Rapture growls.

"Nanook wanted to speak with you about your choice to stay" Banshee said quietly. "Oh does he? well I probably shouldn't keep him waiting" Sol replied. "Why don't you go find Matsi while I speak to Nanook" Sol suggested as she stood up. Banshee gave Sol a small nod and wondered off to find Matsi. Sol looked around for Nanook.

“Everyone has strengths.” Dakota mumbled. If you guys want we can go look, er, search for some rabbits?” Dakota suggested.

Nanook day atop the hill and saw Sol approaching with cuts. “What happened to you? Did something happen with Catori?” Nanook said in a panic.

Matsi layed lazily in the sun with Tamaska while Nomad rambled on about how he’d run his pack if he ever became an alpha. Something about... stealing females from other packs? Pup trading? Nomad was weird, and Matsi was hardly listening.

Rapture laughs slightly and Sorrow giggles. "Don't worry I wont bite you for that" Rapture replies. "Lead the way I'll just follow your scents" He adds. He made sure to memorize Dakota's scent.

Sol looked amused by Nanook. "I fought a cougar to get it away from Rapture and Sorrow who decided to go for a midnight walk, I haven't talked to Catori enough to make her mad" Sol laughed. Sol walked up to the alpha. "I heard you wanted to talk to me or at least that is what Banshee was told" Sol added.

Banshee pounced on Nomad from behind and pinned him. "You planning on trading my siblings?" Banshee growled. Banshee was faking aggression she just want to mess with Nomad. Banshee would apologize if he was actually scared of her. Banshee held back the smile desperately trying to crawl onto her muzzle.
