Valentine eyed the cubs, Akirl noticed, as they came back into the heart of the pride. She seemed angry with them, her eyes blinking rapidly as she attempted to blink away tears. Akirl nudged Sunbeam and whispered: "Nows your chance to 'help her'."

He nodded and slowly walked up to the lioness adol. She growled as he took another step after looking at her, then slowly put another paw down, saying quietly: "I know what it's like, Valentine."

The adol looked away, muttering: "You don't. Noone ever does."

"But you can believe that I do." He took another few steps closer as she was looking to the side. "My father actually tried to kill me when I was born."

She looked shocked, then turned to him. "Really?"

Sunbeam nodded.



Akirl looked at the cubs, only slightly upset. "Go to whoever protects you in your Pride. Make sure to have a lioness with you two the next time. Don't be so reckless!" He looked up at the sky and saw the vultures were gone. He gave a sigh of relief.

Feral nodded before seeing Valentine's stare of him. He frowned, angry that he was stared at yet again by a lion from a pride.

"How're you still alive, then?"

"My mom protected me. But.. she was killed by my father in the process. I was able to get away in time and was found by a few nice old lions and that's how I'm not dead from starvation or thirst."

"And your father?!" She roared lightly. He shrugged. "I don't know. He was around 13 years old when it happened, which is pretty old, so he's most likely dead by now."

"Good. I hope it was painful."

Sunbeam blinked at her sympathetically, and she stared at him for a long moment before snarling and huffing. "Go away. I'm tired."

"Sure thing."



Akirl walked over and sat next to Pretty as she watched her daughter tussle with some vines playfully wrapped around her tail. Akirl licked Pretty's ear and said: "She's growing fast."

Pretty sighed. "They always grow fast."

Feral watched the two, still angry. However he eventually shook his head and sat.

Sunbeam looked around for someone he hadn't met yet, the spotted a lion from the Spotted Pride and trotted over.

"Hi there! I'm Sunbeam!" He smiled at Moon.




Akirl sat down, fixing his gaze on Valentine and huffing. "What am I going to do about her?"

"I was watching her and that primal having a conversation and it seems like he calmed her down somehow."

"Yeah, I noticed her just lay down after he left. He said he knew how to calm her down but I seriously didn't think it'd work."

Pretty got up and slapped Akirls face with a playful paw. "Have some faith in your heir."

"Hey- how do you know I've made a decision yet?"

"Well, you at first knew that Slate would be the next King, but then you got Sunbeam then you chased Slate away like he was nothing."

"...Sermin's still here."

"You know you just keep him because you like his mane color." Pretty giggled. Akirl sighed and nodded. "You're right." He laid down and added: "I guess you've been paying attention to a lot lately."

"We all have."

Moon looked at Sunbeam with a grin. "Heyy! You're that primal dude I've seen around! That's absolutely AWESOME! With those huge fangs I bet you could scare anyone with a snarl! Anyhow, I'm Moon, the sub male for the Spotted Pride. Nice to finally talk to ya!"

"You, too! You seem fun to be around." Sunbeam said, his eyes gleaming. Finally, a fun lion! It was tense with all the Valentine nonsense. "And yeah, these fangs have taken a whole rhino down before!" He noticed he was exaggerating a bit and added: "It was a small one, but the horn was sharp, almost jabbed my neck open, three times!"



Akirl gave Pretty a smile, then went over to tussle with his daughter. Future gave a shocked hook to his side as he tumbled her over. She gave a roar, a better roar then when she was a cub, and got up and pounced onto him. He wrestled with her playfully until he lost his footing when Pretty roared: "You're stepping on my tail, you big doof!" and he fell, Future laughing as she stood over him victoriously. "I win!"

"By default." Akirl chuckled and pawed his daughter off him, turning to get onto his paws and gave his mane a shake and gave a sigh. This is what he wished it was like everyday. Just sitting and playing with his cubs, not having to deal with everything else.

"That's still awesome, dude! Wonder if that other primal kid's gonna join Akirl too? Maybe the Spotted Pride could get lucky!" He chuckled, looking over at the cub. Feral has been playing with the other mutated cubs, Starshine and Harley.

Sunbeam gave an uncertain flick of his tail. "I think I'm the only Primal Akirl wants right now, but if he has a mutated cub he'll most likely take care of them." He looked over at Akirl laying in the sun, his tail avoiding the still-playful Futures jaws, giving her face a light, teasing smack if she was tired, getting her to spring back up and try again a few more times. "But I also know Akirl's had plenty of normal cubs he's put up for adoption. Future's the only cub he has that he's kept."

Cocoa heard this and frowned, getting up and whispering: "You're not joking?"

"Nope. Future had a brother, I think his name was something with an L."

Cocoa's frown deepened yet she nodded her head politely. "I see." and she turned and went over to Spice.



Valentine looked up at the sky and growled. It was too bright. She got up and stretched, looking around. She was feeling particularly antsy and wanted to pick a fight. She glanced at the Feral and Harley and smirked. Those freaks could stay in the Spotted Pride all they like. They weren't normal nor beautiful like herself. Pride got the best of her and her eyes caught Dawn. She growled and trotted up to the lioness. "What's with the freaky-looking bird next to you?" She sneered.

Dawn raised an eyebrow at Valentine before looking to the bird. "My red rail? They've been injured, so I've been looking after them until they can go off safely. If we let animals die, that means less future prey to hunt and to let breed. The little thing's been healing quickly."


Moon nodded. "Rustymane seems to like them cubs." He watched the mutated cubs play fighting. "They sure are unique!" He smiled.

Valentine growled and swiped a paw at the bird, smirking as she saw it tumble to the side. "Ha! Weak."



Sunbeam glanced at Moon. What was that supposed to mean; that Rustymane cared more than Akirl did? He suddenly felt uncomfortable and said with a forced chuckle: "Aww, man, it was nice chatting with ya but I'm hungry." He trotted off to the prey stash where he saw Crossfire pulling a mouse from the tunnel. She looked tired and lonely. He nudged her and asked: "Hi. You alright?"

"Yes, I just gave birth recently and I went on a hunt-"

"What? Akirl let you hunt when you're hurting from birth-"

"No, I went without him knowing." She stopped talking for a moment to breathe, then continued: "He probably won't be that mad-"

"CROSSFIRE!" Akirl roared and ran over to her, snarling; "Where have you been?! I was worried you left the pride without me knowing!"

She purred and put her head against his mane. "I would never do that. Bristle's in the best Pride he can be in, I'd never leave."

Akirl looked down at the cub and sighed, nodding. "You're right. I'm sorry I yelled."

"It's completely fine. You're just worried about me, and I appreciate it." She gave him a warm smile and he smiled back. Sunbeam only noticed then that the tunnel was free for him to go into and take prey.

After taking a fat bird from the stash and glanced over to see Bristle laying on Akirls back as he licked Crossfire's face. He smiled and felt prideful. See? Bristle wasn't Akirl's son but he took him in anyway.

Moon looked at him in curiosity before looking away.


The rail seemingly got angry and gave her a hard hit on the head with it's beak before sitting back down next to Dawn. It left a bruise on Valentine's head. "Not so weak now, huh?"

She looked furiously at the bird then opened her jaws to sink her teeth into it when Queen snapped: "WHAT do you think you're about to do?"

The lioness looked at the bird then at Queen, then shook her head dismissively and grumbled: "I wasn't about to do anything.."

"Good." The broodmother huffed, then turned and sat down next to Kindness and Velvet Cake. Valentine gave the lioness and the bird one last glare before leaving.





Sunbeam licked his jaws as he finished the bird, then noticed a adolescent lioness eyeing him. He looked over and smiled. "Hey! I'm Sun-"

"I know. I've heard." She said softly. "I'm Rosy."

"Pretty name!"

"You don't have much of a bad name yourself."

"Thanks!" Sunbeam smiled and sat with her. "So how's your day been?"

"Been okay." She laid onto her side. "Nothing much other than the usual."
